Villa Sant-Ange is the best show in town for absolute hotel perfection. It is quite simply gorgeous and considering it is largely a new build since 2019, around one original historic mansion, the scope and design of the hotel plan and grounds is stunning. The decor is very gilded and trad but it has a romantic, illuminated and reflective quality and overall the feel is relaxed luxury. The warm welcome from the offset with the friendly and extremely knowledgable host, Benjamin, and everyone really from reception to housekeeping and the serving team were exceptional. The warmth, smiles and good humour is what makes this place exceptional without being stuffy. The dining spaces are beautiful and breakfast including the buffet is outstanding. We were grateful for vegan cooked breakfasts of delicious vegetables and excellent coffee with plant milks available. The pool runs the mighty length of the restaurant, a beautiful, tranquil, turquoise perfect for dipping under azure Provencal skies. Loungers and drinks by the pool - try the ultra quality delicious chips - makes for a perfect holiday. The short, easy walk into the gloriously convivial and beautiful town of Aix makes this perfectly situated as well as being a quiet location.

I was there for a short stay, but I'd hoped to see its...

I was there for a short stay, but I'd hoped to see its bright spots. However, since it was November, apparently anything to do with Cezanne is closed. His atelier was closed, which I didn't understand because as an artist myself, I know artists can do their art in the winter. Also, the Cezanne room in the Musée Granet was closed, and they were not showing the biographical film on him. The only Cezanne thing open was the outdoor forest/quarry area where Cezanne painted, but I would have need a car to get there, or Uber, and it was freezing cold, apparently a surprise for this time of year in Aix. The Christmas markets were open, which was nice, although so many of them seemed to sell the same things. Aix is a very popular place, and I hope the managers of the town realize that tourists come there not just in the summer.

A nice little town in the south of France.

A nice little town in the south of France. The town centre is lovely with little narrow streets with a variety of shops and places to eat everywhere you turn. Museum-wise, there's only a couple and they are rather on the small side. I would recommend checking you don't come during low-season, bank holidays or during closures for changing exhibitions otherwise your choices would be limited. However, you can take local buses to the surrounding areas where there are more attractions, villages, etc, but you should plan ahead and with enough time. Getting to: be aware that the TGV station is around 18km out of town, so you need to either take a bus or taxi to Aix town proper. The local train station can only be reached via Marseille, so plan accordingly.

Amazing city, full of positive vibes, a gem of southern France, very close to Marseille and Nice which are worth visiting if there is time. TEh connection, either by bus, shuttle or train, is very good. Don't opt for taxis, they're very expensive and there is no need for them. The old city is entirely pedestrian, full of coffee places, bars, and restaurants for all tastes, with a vivid population and lots of tourists in November! This city is amazing, full of positive vibes, and is a gem in southern France. It is very close to Marseille and Nice, both of which are worth visiting if you have the time. The connections by bus, shuttle, or train are excellent, so there's no need to choose taxis, which can be quite expensive. The old city is entirely pedestrianized and features numerous coffee shops, bars, and restaurants to suit all tastes. Despite being November, the area is lively with both locals and tourists! This city is amazing, full of positive vibes, and is a gem in southern France. It is very close to Marseille and Nice, both of which are worth visiting if you have the time. It's an active town and easy to walk around.

It's an active town and easy to walk around. Some people may find it too crowded compared to the smaller villages in Provence. Most of the tourist attractions including galleries and museums are booked way in advance.

A stunningly beautiful old town a blended mixture of medieval and 17th century buildings of honey-coloured stone and made all the better because cars are banned from the entire old centre. So all you hear are people's voices . Incredible markets on Tuesdays and Saturdays and a vibrant relaxed atmosphere. One of the most engaging and beautiful towns in France I have visited.

Novotel Pont del Arc is ideal accommodation for car based family roaming in Provence, as we have enjoyed for more than three decades. Few locations have maintained the same level of excellent service. Aix is a VERY special place, being the hometown of Cezanne, Zola etc. and ideal base for exploring the whole of Provence, particularly the Cote d'Azur, Marseilles, Grimaud, the Callanque etc etc. :-),

Everything about the hotel itself was just right for us.. The staff were very pleasant and really helpful with good advice about getting around. Even though it was a 20 minute walk , or 5 minutes on a bus , it was easy to get to the most popular parts of the city. Being just ONE minute from the motorway more than made up for the , ever so slightly, longer walk into the old town. PLUS, free parking was available ( not guaranteed) or £8 per day next door.If returning to Aix en Provence I would definitely book this hotel again.

Nice location in AixEnProvence. We used it as a base for day trips with in the region. Staff was nice and helpful. The parking situation is alrite, as there are 6 free spots outside; otherwise, you can pay 15 EUR a day to use the Hotel parking.

This is an amazing estate located just outside AIX. I think the location is perfect as you have the peace and quiet of the country side. The hotel was lovely and clean. Staff were helpful and the pool facility was great.
