Miles of lovely sandy beach along the Atlantic coast, a gentle beach, no sudden depth of water, so safe for all ages.. So many welcoming bars and restaurants, one is spoilt for choice for snacking on tapas or for more classy fine dining. The weather is pretty much the same as the Mediterranean coast in Spain, but enhanced by soft breezes coming off the sea. There are a good number of hotels for such a small town, and self catering rentals abound. I can’t wait to return! 😊
Zahara de Los Atunes is a charming unspoiled little town. It suits those who are genuinely interested in Spanish life. It is unashamedly Spanish and doesn't try to compete with the brasher resorts of the Costa Del Sol. I am reluctant to recommend it to others but that is only because I want to keep it for myself.
I came here when my children were very small and it's still a special place. Beautiful beaches, great waves if you like that sort of thing and wonderful sunsets. The restaurants in the centre of town are excellent quality and value. Try the bars in the Mercado, they're open until 4pm and serve up sushi type dishes in a lively atmosphere. With the tide in or out a walk along the shoreline is a great thing to do, and is easy to hop from one chiringuito to the next...
I love Zahara de los Atunes because it's really small and nice city. It still has vibe of place where you can get lost - especially if you don't know Spanish. But people are friendly and helpful. It's a little bit like time travel going there, where tourisms was not so popular and where not everything is prepared for foreigners. I love it.
Absolutely love Zahara de los Atunes it is truly a wonderful place. Thankfully far enough from airports to deter mass tourism, it is a Spanish resort very popular in the summer when the inhabitants of the Andalucian cities move to the coast. As a result no need for the restaurants, bars and shops etc to speak English which also deters non Spanish: a big plus point. It would be difficult to have a good holiday here if you cannot speak Spanish.
It was not as advertised, in fact, far from it. It was very run down and not maintained. The sofa was very worn. The smell of sewage was apparent in the whole aprtment. There was dirt and dust in all corners. The pool was dirty and had broken tiles and not teally fit for use. My husband got an infection in his stomach from the water. The cleaners arrived after we arrived and were rather abrupt. I was also concerned about GDPR as they had taken u images of passport I.D. The location isn't as advertised, its a bit of a drive from where they confirmed, so to get to anywhere you would need a taxi or a 20-30 minute walk.
Zahara de los Atunes
The location was very close to Barbate and a short drive to Zahara de Los Atunes. A wonderful raw beach is just across the road. The location of the Villa is right by a main road bordered by a Natural Park at the end of the garden, with Flamingoes coming so close at times you could almost touch them. We could not hear any road noise, the Villa is an amazingly tranquil place to stay.
The hotel itself was immaculate. José was exceptional as well as the in room service. We had a baby and they were so kind of set everything up with the bed and do it all for us. José even helped us upgrade to a Seaview which was amazing, the restaurant also beside the hotel was delicious. All the staff were amazing, helpful, and very respectful.
Very nice resort a bit outside of the old town. You need a car / taxi to get to restaurants, etc. They charge hourly rate for parking and given the fact that it’s not in the center, I thought that was completely unnecessary. Other than that, it’s a very good place to unwind!
Zahara de los Atunes
The apartment was close to the beach and had a pool. Parking was not a problem (beginning of July) It was walking distance to a grocery store, butcher, etc. You could also go to restaurants within walking distance. If you want to go into town, it is a 7' drive.
Zahara de los Atunes
Loved our week here. A large, bright and very comfortable apartment. Nuria was a fantastic host and easy to communicate with. Great location overlooking the coast, lovely gardens and pool area and good restaurants very nearby. Recommended.
The location is an easy 10 minute walk along the beach to town. It has a nice pool and bar. The hotel provides an amazing breakfast - the best we have ever had. The variety available at breakfast was terrific.
A very mixed experience at this hotel. It's close to the beach, which is good and has a restaurant very close by. I went for the more expensive room with a ocean view which had a very nice sunset.
Great Andalucian style hotel. Very close to the beach and just a short walk to the centre of the village. Staff were super lovely.
Stuff was helpful. Hotel very nice and clean. There is a pool and chillout area. Hotel is just on the beachfront.
Peaceful and beautiful hotel. Very good place to get away from the crowd and just relax.
Really nice hotel in a very good area
