We were travelling from the Algarve to Santander to catch...
We were travelling from the Algarve to Santander to catch the ferry to UK. This was a perfect place to stopover as it was about 2/3rds of the journey. We set off mid morning, arriving around 1900, in time to relax with a drink on the lovely terrace before dinner in the dungeons (excellent meal - best to book your table online with the castle directly). After a leisurely breakfast, it was an easy 3.5 hour drive to Santander to catch the afternoon ferry.

I was the one who booked the hotel, I knew what I was expecting, but I was still impressed so much. IT IS A REAL CASTEL! Stepping on the stairs of 14th century, sitting under the dome of 15th century, you can really feel the history. The staff are sooooo nice. Thank you for letting me have a great memory of staying in a castle. Highly recommend it to everyone!

We loved the historical charm of this old castle, lovely rooms and spaces to explore, the restaurant food was very good and reasonably priced for a hotel, the breakfast was excellent and lots to choose from and the staff were very friendly

Lovely hotel with character and allows dogs. Good location for a stopover from ferry or to.
