The host was fantastic - we are a group of Camiño pilgrims so could not be specific about our arrival time. But he was very responsive to our messages, met us quickly when we arrived, showed us around the beautifully appointed apartment. Sonia was an excellent host, check in was smooth and easy. The apartment was modern, clean, and very well equipped. There are good supermarkets nearby. The washing/dryer machine is a big plus for the pilgrims. Sonia gently left a laundry soap in the apartment along with good snacks. We highly recommend her apartment.

    This town was such a nice surprise.

    This town was such a nice surprise. I decided to divide my camino stage and Porriño was great to visit. There are plenty of nice restaurants and cafés. It's a beautiful town architecturally, so I enjoyed walking around the town. It's also not a touristy town or a place overrun with other Caminho pilgrims (like me), so I was able to experience the town without a lot of outside influence. On a personal choice note, I actually enjoyed Porriño more than Valença and Tui. I spent a night in each of those locations on my Camino. The other two towns were much more focused on the tourist/pilgrim guests. While I enjoyed Valença because of its history and architecture, the town was more touristy than I would have liked. Porriño has all the charm of a small town, without the interference of outside . A final note about Porriño. The people that you interact with, restaurant, hotel staff or just people you meet on the street were always pleasant to interact with. They were always patient with my limited language skills and made me feel welcome in their town. Visit Porriño!
