FAQs about hotels in Playa Blanca

The Calmer Side of Lanzarote

Playa Blanca is the newest, and arguably quietest, large resort on Lanzarote, which makes it popular with families. It is partially sheltered from the Atlantic winds by the dormant Montaña Roja volcano, and volcanic rock lines its sandy beaches which are spread around a bay.

There are 3 main beaches: Playa Dorada which is popular for watersports, Playa Blanca – the most peaceful, and Playa Flamingo which is overlooked by shops, bars and restaurants serving locally caught seafood. Further east the long stretches of sand give way to the rocky Papagayo Coves whose beautiful scenery is depicted on many a postcard.

A promenade linking the 3 beaches is lined with luxury hotels and resorts available on Booking.com, many offering all inclusive options and some even have their own water park. There are also lots of cheap apartments and private villas in Playa Blanca, some of which overlook Marina Rubicon. The Castillo de las Colorados watchtower sits on a rugged piece of headland looking across the Atlantic Ocean towards the hilly terrain of Fuerteventura.

Ferries to this neighbouring Canary Island depart from just across the bay and offer beautiful views back across the whitewashed buildings towards the mountains behind Playa Blanca.

The long shore side walk to the east and west of Playa Blanca Beach offers something for everyone, from Joggers and long distance swimmers to strollers and those needing mobility assistance. It was great to see young and extended families, older couples, singles and beloved pets making the most of the lovely local facilities. It felt safe and welcoming - warm and bright too of course! The public bus service is excellent, frequent and inexpensive.

Playa Blanca is beautiful, but if you care mainly about beaches, I would recommend Fuerteventura instead. The beaches in Playa Blanca are quite small. The town itself is lovely, but to be honest, I felt a bit unsafe there in the evening. There were some strange people around the center, but I guess that can happen in any tourist area.

Playa Blanca - old town still retains some of its original character especially one street back from beach walk Great for a quiet holiday with evening strolls for dinner and drinks Not for night life drinking and entertainment Beaches are excellent and well maintained even the one in town Bus systems are very good with around town service around 1:60 euros

We love Playa Blanca, there is so much to do!

We love Playa Blanca, there is so much to do! We loved snorkelling at Papagoya Beach and swimming at Playa Dorada. There are so many lovely restaurants and takeaways that it can be hard to decide which is nicest! We did some paid activities like the escape rooms, kayaking and Aqua Lava Park. All very worthy of a mention for fun and suitability for teenagers.

Stayed here many times in the past but usually down near the ferry terminal area. This time we stayed up the marina end, and I think, for us, that it would have been better at the ferry boat end. The marina is nice to visit for a look around but tbh the restaurants are all over priced and the food was nothing special for the additional costs. There was a bar, that pumped out really loud music, I've gone right off "Sweet Caroline" tbh, most of the evenings to midnight and was just a big put off for our family of 6. The only other decent bar was the Flagstaff, but once again, come 10pm up goes the volume, so it's best to get a seat as far from the door as possible, good music but just to loud tbh. The best VFM restaurant, for a family of 6, was Lani's Snack Bar, the food was good and plenty of it, and the beer was reasonably priced, and no need to book. For Tapas we did Le Taberna, very accommodating and food was excellent. The best meal we had, food, atmosphere, service, made welcome, seating arrangement and didn't bankrupt me was the Namaste India, located at Paseo LASAL shopping centre, right on the seafront, my jalfrezi was spot on. We walked from the marina to Playa Blanca, which is well worth it as the seafront is excellent, lots of hotels back onto this, there are a few bars / restaurants located along the way, with a commercial centre about halfway along, before you get to all the shops, bars and restaurants along the front of Playa Blanca, this is the end that I like, vibrant to say the least. We stopped at a small café on the main road, obviously fairly new as it's not on Google maps yet, they were tremendous, cheeky and fun place to eat, on the same bloke as the pharmacy. If we go back to Playa Blanca, which I see not reason not to, then its the ferry boat end that we would head back to, highly recommended over the marina end.

The villa works well for a large group, lots of good facilities. The basement bedrooms are too hot and really need mosquito screens and air conditioning. The pool area and outdoor area is lovely as is the outdoor dining during the day. The zoo and waterpark are great value for money and a lovely day out. I can highly recommend the horse riding with Lanzarote Safaris.

Spacious two bedroom villa with all mod cons and decent size swimming pool in large patio area. Can use all the facilities of Hotel Volcan just over the road, but we preferred to just sit by the pool and chill. Ricardo the complex manager was very helpful and professional. The location is brilliant sitting just above Marina Rubicon where there’s a great selection of restaurants and shops. Playa Blanca centre is around 1km away though easily accessible by a cheap taxi if you don’t fancy the walk across the promenade.

Fabulous location on sea front between Marina Rubicon and town of Playa Blanca. Modern stylish hotel. All staff were lovely. Great facilities. I was worried would be too big a hotel but split up into different restaurants etc. Also given a half arrival hour slot for evening meal which made things run smoother. Food was a good standard and lovely buffet restaurant design with indoor and outdoor. Would definitely come back.

The hotel was amazing! It is so beautiful, great pools and facilities. The breakfast each morning was lovely and had a good range of foods. Everywhere in the hotel was so clean and rooms were spacious, with a balcony and beautiful views. Hotel was about 10 minute walk from centre of playa Blanca. The hotel had a lovely chilled vibe with great music by the poolside. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

Lovely villa situated in a small residential complex, yet close to the facilities of Playa Blanca, which is a lovely low-key resort. We were 5 minutes from the promenade that snaked round the bay, past hotels, small bars, restaurants and various beaches to the port. The villa was exceptional - spacious, comfortable and well equipped with everything you need. The pool is clean and just perfect. I can't fault it.

Excellent stay, the staff is so customer friendly and accommodating. We felt really looked after and spoiled by an upgrade to our room. Hotel is located away from hustle and bustle which suited us perfectly. You can access the Playa Blanca seaside promenade directly via a gate.
