The old town was well worth the visit and there was a lot to see, especially the town hall and all the lovely columns and side of the shops so you could walk in the cool. They have an architecture was beautiful. Go and visit the castle 30 mind outside of the town and the Roman Villa it was large and amazing. It's a friendly town.
It's a friendly town. Couldn't help noticing few people in 20-50 age group and many stores in the centre were shuttered. The bank ATMs I tried demand €2.75 - €4.00 to withdraw cash, so I only used cards. A one night stop over is not fair to judge a location. More time spent exploring would help give a better overview. Impressions of an evening walk to get food was that Palencia is a large town comprised of a cathedral and blocks of flats - not really fair perhaps to Palencia!Guest review byJimprattUnited Kingdom

Great downtime for him after a 6 hour drive. To cap it all the square was the location of Palencia Cathedral which we had time to visit before we left.
