FAQs about hotels in Málaga

The Colourful Soul of the Costa del Sol

The birthplace of Picasso is as colourful as an artist’s palette, from the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea to the golden sun, which gives 300 days of sunshine per year. When the sun sets, the vibrant nightlife awakens and you’ll find your place amongst the youthful square of the old centre, the trendy bars of La Malagueta or on one of the terraces of Pedregalejo.

There’'s also rich history underneath the sun and fun. Alcazaba is a Moorish castle from the 11th century and just next to it are the remnants of a Roman Theatre. The white stone tower of the Malaga Cathedral rises up in the heart of the city centre, and offers an interesting respite from sun bathing on the magnificent and popular beaches.

A more modern history can be appreciated by visiting the birthplace of Picasso and a museum full of exhibitions by Malaga’s most famous resident. A more relaxed Spanish city than Madrid and Barcelona, Malaga is still the gateway to the Costa del Sol and the busy Malaga Airport is only 10 km from the centre of town.

From budget hostels to 5-star luxury hotels, with Booking.com you’re sure to find the perfect accommodation for your sunny holiday.

Very interesting old town in the central area.

Very interesting old town in the central area. Pleasant beach. Good food everywhere. Good museums and galleries. As we flew into Malaga it was a handy town to base ourselves in before heading to Granada - only 70 minutes away by a comfortable and swift train from the train station near the hotel. Picasso Museum, Picasso Birthplace Museum, Thyssen Gallery, Cathedral, Fort is a steep climb but worth the views from the top.

An abundance of lovely restaurants with Varying price ranges...

An abundance of lovely restaurants with Varying price ranges, we enjoyed eating in the local restaurants and experiencing local cuisine. Felt very safe in the city walking around. Shopping excellent, loved the centre with pedestrian walks. Didn't like the local beach, water not very clean, neither were the sunbeds. Enjoyed the marine area as we walked to the beach, nice eating areas and stalls to browse.

We liked the bars restaurants and shops.

We liked the bars restaurants and shops. We visited the Cathedral and the Castle. Unfortunately one of our party had their passport and mobile phone stolen whilst boarding a train from the airport travelling to the city centre. This was at the start of the holiday which caused a lot of stress and inconvenience. Would recommend taking extra care of personal possessions especially in crowded areas.

We were a walking group of twelve in our 60s, Every one in the group complemented the City. We felt safe at all times even after midnight,I think Malaga should be considered for Europeen City Of Culture for 2026. The Parque de Malaga is a Paradise for people in the warm weather its two km long in the centre of the La Malagueta, from Hotel Eliseos to the centra, The Red Bus Tour was fantastic the 24 hour ticket and we saw so much to make you want to return ASAP. Its a easy city to get around both on foot or on the bus, The choice of restaurants was amasing and all good value.

Malaga has so much to see around the city.

Malaga has so much to see around the city. It is very clean and we always feel safe as so many people are out walking along the streets. There are lots of restaurants, fairly reasonable prices. Museums and art galleries a plenty, and also an array of free exhibitions in state buildings of paintings, art work, photographs or sculptures. The bull ring usually has an exhibition too. The city is full of character and a guided walk is well worth doing. Beautiful shopping experience all over the city centre. And the cruise terminal is another shopping experience. Walks through the palm tree gardens along the main road is refreshing with lovely flower gardens to be found , fountains and seating full of surprises. A visit to the historic sites is of course a must. Castle is a long steep walk up though. The Botanic gardens are easily accessed by line 2 bus, check on bus timetable as longish wait if missed. It seems to be free entrance on Sunday after 2pm , I think . Beautiful gardens, many walks , need a few visits to do it all. OAP's get reduced entrance cost but need documentation for proof of age. A lovely city to visit , less hot out of season but still very comfortable for exploring.

Lovely modern hotel in the heart of Malaga. Amazing location, 5-10 mins walking distance to the beach and the old town, near to lots restaurants, bars etc. supermarket at the end of the road. Very clean, modern hotel with friendly staff. Rooftop bar is worth a visit. Breakfast was ok, good variety of food but same food everyday. On a street with restaurant and bars but very quiet, not noisy.

Location was fantastic. Easy walk to marina, beach and obviously the old town. We visited early February so can’t comment on noise pollution as Malaga wasn’t too busy. Hotel was clean, spacious room and bathroom. Staff were friendly, and we made use of the luggage store after checkout for our late flight home, leaving us empty handed to explore.

The definition of boutique is definitely appropriate, I would rate the hotel, room, breakfast and staff more than a 10 if I could. It was one of the best hotel's we've stayed at, a 5 star memorable experience that we will won't forget. We would stay again if we return to Malaga!

Clean and quiet hotel with a great location – close to the old town and just a short walk to the sea. It perfectly met our expectations for a short stay in Malaga.
