FAQs about hotels in Málaga

The Colourful Soul of the Costa del Sol

The birthplace of Picasso is as colourful as an artist’s palette, from the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea to the golden sun, which gives 300 days of sunshine per year. When the sun sets, the vibrant nightlife awakens and you’ll find your place amongst the youthful square of the old centre, the trendy bars of La Malagueta or on one of the terraces of Pedregalejo.

There’'s also rich history underneath the sun and fun. Alcazaba is a Moorish castle from the 11th century and just next to it are the remnants of a Roman Theatre. The white stone tower of the Malaga Cathedral rises up in the heart of the city centre, and offers an interesting respite from sun bathing on the magnificent and popular beaches.

A more modern history can be appreciated by visiting the birthplace of Picasso and a museum full of exhibitions by Malaga’s most famous resident. A more relaxed Spanish city than Madrid and Barcelona, Malaga is still the gateway to the Costa del Sol and the busy Malaga Airport is only 10 km from the centre of town.

From budget hostels to 5-star luxury hotels, with Booking.com you’re sure to find the perfect accommodation for your sunny holiday.

We were a walking group of twelve in our 60s, Every one in the group complemented the City. We felt safe at all times even after midnight,I think Malaga should be considered for Europeen City Of Culture for 2026. The Parque de Malaga is a Paradise for people in the warm weather its two km long in the centre of the La Malagueta, from Hotel Eliseos to the centra, The Red Bus Tour was fantastic the 24 hour ticket and we saw so much to make you want to return ASAP. Its a easy city to get around both on foot or on the bus, The choice of restaurants was amasing and all good value.

Malaga has so much to see around the city.

Malaga has so much to see around the city. It is very clean and we always feel safe as so many people are out walking along the streets. There are lots of restaurants, fairly reasonable prices. Museums and art galleries a plenty, and also an array of free exhibitions in state buildings of paintings, art work, photographs or sculptures. The bull ring usually has an exhibition too. The city is full of character and a guided walk is well worth doing. Beautiful shopping experience all over the city centre. And the cruise terminal is another shopping experience. Walks through the palm tree gardens along the main road is refreshing with lovely flower gardens to be found , fountains and seating full of surprises. A visit to the historic sites is of course a must. Castle is a long steep walk up though. The Botanic gardens are easily accessed by line 2 bus, check on bus timetable as longish wait if missed. It seems to be free entrance on Sunday after 2pm , I think . Beautiful gardens, many walks , need a few visits to do it all. OAP's get reduced entrance cost but need documentation for proof of age. A lovely city to visit , less hot out of season but still very comfortable for exploring.

Malaga has everything.

Malaga has everything. A vibrant old town, lovely harbour area with superyachts to see and dream of owning. Check out Nusa cocktail bar and watch the sunset. There is also a wonderful beach (Playa de la Malagueta) with beach cafe bars . Cordoba is an hours train ride away (Malaga Maria Zambrano) and well worth a visit. The transfer by taxi from the airport is only 20 mins and 20-30 euros, but I believe a bus service also does the same.

Depending on the time of the year and on the purpose of your trip - you can spend 2-3 days in Malaga if you want to visit or more than 1 week if you want to swim and sunbathe. If you want to visit - it is worth to rent a car and visit surrounding Andalusia (Cordoba, Alhambra, Ronda but also less known Antequerra). You can use also the train to visit, but in this case you must book tickets early, the train tickets purchased a few days before the trip can be quite expensive. In our case, renting a car for 4 days was cheaper than 1 day trip by train to Cordoba for 2 people booked 3 days in advance.

Malaga is the perfect small city.

Malaga is the perfect small city. Its extremely walkable with city centre all pedestrianised. There are 15 + museums including the Picasso museum. The beaches are great and there are a few options. They are within walking distance of the city centre. The port is very well developed and offers its own character and things to do and places to relax and enjoy the view. There is a fortress and a castle so plenty of places to climb to get a nice view. Lots of restaurants and different cuisines. Brilliant city

As a history nerd, the city and environments delighted me. So much art to enjoy (three major museums). Found several authentic flamenco venues, not just usual cheesy tourist show. We plan to return next year for a winter break getaway.

The hotel is very close to a Renfe station and therefore the airport, it has a very good location also being close to the beach and the old town. The room is clean, I think they even mopped the floor every day. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I recommend this hotel. It is plus that they have luggage storage service. For example my flight left only at 20:30, and I did not have to worry about my luggage after checkout at 12:00.

Owner met us outside the apartment after contacting him when we landed at the airport. He was very friendly and gave us tips as to where to eat in Malaga. Excellent location one block away from the beach and a lovely walk into the old town. Apartment was just as the photos and very clean and well equipped. Lovely little balcony with a lovely view to towards the cathedral. Would definitely recommend.

The location of the hotel is very good and just a 5 minute walk from the closest railway station. It is located close to plenty of cafes and bars and a short walk to the old town Malaga. The beach is closer to 30 minutes walk but it is a nice walk along the water front.
