This is a very good base for exploring the region,...

This is a very good base for exploring the region, especially with the free bus and rail pass. The buses are regular and punctual, and connect with the main railway line at the next village up, Denzlingen. The village itself is really beautiful and, although there are lots of hotels, has kept its character. I recommend visiting the local wine cooperative. The local red wine in particular is quite unlike the generic stuff we are usually offered in the UK and well worth trying and bringing some home.

Lovely town with various things to do, plus great base to explore the Black Forest and attractions nearby. The outdoor swimming pool is in a great location with play area, snack bar plus has mini golf next to it.

Very nice and quiet, several good restaurants, beautiful hiking trails, peaceful. The food at the Hirschen und Engel restaurant is excellent; reservations are important as it's often fully booked. The Asian snack bar is also recommended.

Magnificent, truly a superb city. The landscapes are breathtaking. The Black Forest Clinic, for those who know the series. A very beautiful plant nursery, a deer farm, and lots of things to discover like a fitness trail in the forest…

The village is very flowery and very clean.

The village is very flowery and very clean. The people we met were welcoming and friendly. The Rewe supermarket near the hotel is very well stocked. Excellent local products. There are many buses to St. Peter Port or Sankt Margen, for example.

Thanks to the spa card, I have free travel on public...

Thanks to the spa card, I have free travel on public transport. St. Peter is very worth seeing, and Freiburg's old town is a 20-minute drive away. We would have liked to take the bus, but we would have had to change once. It was easily over 30 degrees Celsius that weekend, so the air conditioning was more important to us.

A beautiful old German style hotel, with plenty of Black Forest charm and character. Not your chain hotel, and one that gave true German atmosphere. Had an excellent evening meal there, and room and breakfast were certainly up to the standard we expected. There was a nice little balcony to sit out on which was very welcome on the hot evening weather we experienced. Our 2 nght stay was excellent value. As they were pre-informed that I am Coeliac, they provided Gluten-Free bread rolls for breakfast. Large ample car park.

Excellently located in the Schwarzwald region with great hiking trails nearby. Spacious room with plenty of cupboard space and good beds. The food was great: excellent breakfast and a 4-course dinner with good variety. All staff were friendly and very accommodating. Due to heavy traffic we arrived later than expected and although the restaurant had just closed, they served us dinner anyway. We enjoyed our daily swim in the pool and a hot sauna.

The hotel and the staff were excellent. Very clean and tranquil, plus the breakfast was really nice. I love a place with an honesty bar too. A nice touch. The stream at the back of the hotel is very relaxing to sit by.
