This is a little gem in a fantastic location, right on the banks of the Danube and directly next to the bike path. The guesthouse is comfortable and clean, the staff are exceptionally attentive and friendly, and as a bonus, the food is absolutely delicious. In terms of value for money, it's perfect.

Great location right in the city center, friedly service, good value for money, comfy bed, quiet room. There are a few parking spots in front of the hotel, however, they were occupied, the guys at the reception suggested a few free (over the weekend) parkings close in the area and we parked there. We stayed only one night and everything was perfect!

The lady on reception was friendly and helpful. The room was excellent. Great size. Big comfy beds. Good powerful hot shower. Very clean. Nice balcony. Garage to store bikes safely. Unfortunately we arrived late so didn't use the facilities or the free sauna so can't comment.

The location was excellent, walking distance to the old city. Very spacious room, great huge bed, and very comfortable. Excellent Italian restaurant next door. We could bike around from this hotel, we could park the car in the Hauptbahnhof parking garage for 5 euros per day which is really reasonable. I also liked the design, the rowing boats. We would definitely stay here again.

Love the location. And ease of parking for the hotel. The room is huge and exceptionally clean. It is in a quiet area while accessible by walking to all the sights and nearby restaurants. If you are visiting Passau, this is the place to stay.

Unfortunately we arrived when the hotel restaurant and bar...

Unfortunately we arrived when the hotel restaurant and bar were closed (Thursdays) had we known we would have cancelled the booking. We always book for hotel with restaurant/ bar and parking. The evening attendant spoke no english and made no effort to try and help our limited german understanding. We found him rude. Thankfully within a 20 minute walk we found a great hotel where we ate very well and had a few beers. See photos. Booking.Com and hotel need to make it much clearer at time if booking that their facilities could be limited on arrival. Shame really as breakfast was reasonable. However their loss. would not stay again due to attitude on arrival. Thankfully only stayed one night.

Erlau is a short distance from Passau and it is much quieter...

Erlau is a short distance from Passau and it is much quieter there than in Passau, so it is the ideal place to stay to visit Passau, because all shopping centers are easily accessible from Erlau and you are also within walking distance of the Danube with a view of the valley from the restaurant.

Erlau was just our overnight stop.

Erlau was just our overnight stop. We were in Passau and explored the city. We had dinner at the hotel in the evening – the food was excellent. There's nothing to avoid!

There's nothing in Erlau that would make you go there...

There's nothing in Erlau that would make you go there specifically. I wouldn't have either, were it not for the fact that it was the only affordable hotel on the Danube Cycle Path near Passau, available for last-minute bookings. The restaurant "Zum Edlhof" is highly recommended and probably Erlau's top spot. Danube riverboats don't stop here, only in neighboring Obernzell (5 km) and Passau (13 km).
