Far from civilization, access via a winding, scenic road. We asked in the town downstairs which street to turn into. Rooms with a terrace and a wonderful view of the island. Modestly, but cleanly. Nice, spacious room with large bathroom and balcony. A bit old-fashioned (which added some charm) but fully comfortable. Excellent big breakfast, including a cachupa with egg - a welcome energy boost before a day of hiking! Location in the centre of Assomada which is not exactly a beatiful town but has a purely local feel and an excellent location for hiking in the interior of the Santiago island. Some hikes are accessible on foot, some by taking an aluguer (minibus) - and the aluguer station is just a few steps away from Asa Branca. Some previous guests complained about street noise but we had a room at the back and it was quiet.

Magali and the rest of the stuff where amazing and helped us with everything we needed whether it was to arrange a hike or to get an Aluguer to the next city. There is a nice balcony from where you can look at the mountains and just relax and enjoy the nature around. This is also the perfect spot to hike and discover the nearby Sierra Malagueta or to go to Assomada or Taraffal for a day. We can also highly recommend the Restaurant. The food is great and fresh, the service is awesome and the best part of it all is the home made ice cream!

A nice view from a spacious balcony, beautiful interior and gorgeous paintings on the wall. It was fascinating to stay here for one night in our trip through the island. Apart of that, we got the receipt and tasting of craft grog drink which is so good.

The room was very clean, as was the bathroom. The lady was so sweet and let me keep the room the next day until I went to the airport without my even asking. It was in a good location for the hike I wanted. Comfortable, safe and good value for money. They also organised a cheaper airport taxi. Very responsive to messages. Thanks again for the great stay

We really liked the peace and quiet and simplicity at Recanto da Montanha. If you are looking for a local experience( rather than a big set up) then this is a good place to start. Our host Geisa was really sweet and helpful. Plenty of hot water and internet worked well
