I was in Potrero for 3 nights alone on business. The location is quite and off the tourist map. There are a few local restaurants and bars, but not a lot going on. Its a great place to get away and relax, but pretty remote from all of the major destinations. Potrero is a charming and walkable beach town with plenty of dining options. While the beach itself was decent, it wasn’t our favorite—the sand is darker and the water less clear. We preferred Playa Conchal for snorkeling and Playa Danta or Dantita for swimming. That said, we appreciated Potrero’s more local feel, with a strong Tico presence, unlike the more tourist-heavy vibe of Playa Flamingo and Las Catalinas. Potrero’s central location makes it a great base for exploring nearby beaches. We especially recommend Hemingway’s on the beach—it’s family-friendly with fun activities like bean bag toss and a slackline. Our waiter, Joseph, was outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Don’t miss the beautiful sunset views from there!Guest review byMelanieUnited States - 8.0

We enjoyed the various towns and beaches located in the Potrero area. The restaurant selection was very good. Everyone was kind and helpful. It was nice to encounter local people and tourists enjoying the area. The area felt safe. Driving in the area requires the drivers full attention, skill and patience. The BE Hotel is a bit out of the way but close to the center...
The BE Hotel is a bit out of the way but close to the center of Potrero. This town is lively, as there are stores and places to eat. There is also a school and a large sports field. You can see the working atmosphere here - there is construction work going on in many places. A little farther from the center on side streets you can admire beautiful villas, which are adjacent to modest houses. A few hundred meters behind the hotel you can meet grazing horses and cattle. Flowering shrubs and trees decorate it all. Our attention was drawn to the large number of free-roaming dogs of very gentle disposition. We did not once encounter aggression between them as well as towards us - they would come up and greet us in a friendly manner. From the BE hotel it is also a few hundred meters to Playa Penca. Here there is yellow sand and off-season perfect tranquility. During these two weeks, the number of people using this 750-meter beach varied from 6 (!!) to 60 people depending on the day.Guest review byJacekPoland - 6.0

The apartment is amazing size having huge patio with open kitchen area. Inside of the apartment you can find spacious living/sleep room and huge shower/wc area. There is a small pool were you dip and cool down. The hosts, David and Charlotte, were charming and warm persons. The only disappointment was that we stayed only one night in this lovely place. Location is fine. Pool of the apartment complex seemed nice, we did not use them.
