Thanks to Silvia for the great service. She is very kind and hospitable! She loves this hotel, nature and made every detail with love. It was a feeling that we visited our relatives and the visit was very warm :) Location is perfect, especially for those who wants to be connected with the wild nature. Breakfast is amazing too! Highly recommended.

The location of the hotel was great, a little far from San Jose airport, so I would reccomend to land at Liberia airport, which is only a 90 minute drive. However, it was in a private area and very safe, with a 5 minute walk to the beach. Everything else was amazing and succeed and of my expectations.

Wonderful place, thoughtfully designed and cared for, surrounded by nature and perfectly located to explore the nearby beaches — especially if you enjoy snorkeling and surfing. We had such a relaxing time there! The owners are absolutely lovely and were always available via WhatsApp to help us and share recommendations. Truly highly recommended! :) Also, don't miss the nearby restaurant Restaurante Latino ;)

David helped get us settled and was really friendly and helpful. The room was great and the kitchen was fully stocked with pots/pans/utensils we needed to cook. The yard and pool were beautiful and it felt pretty luxurious to have our own private outdoor space. The wifi was fast and the tv had youtube/netflix etc.

Soul Shine is the best accommodation choice in the Playa Avellanas area. The cabinas are spacious and clean with comfortable beds, good WiFi, air conditioning and a mini-fridge. The pool is a gorgeous place to relax and the grounds are laden with lush tropical flowers and vegetation. The location is amazing - Avellanas beach is a short walk away, and so are many great restaurants, including Barumis (burgers), Lola’s, La Parruja, and La Esquina, a community space with tacos, sushi, cocktails and other tasty food (visit the public market there on Friday nights for local vendors and live music). You can also walk next door and get some gelato! Owners Yael and Roee are the ultimate hosts and will ensure your stay is as perfect as possible. You really are part of the family when you’re here. And a Soul Shine review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning their delicious brunch! This place serves up some of the best food you’ll find in the area – even in all of Costa Rica. Authentic menu items such as shakshuka, Gypsy King, falafels and avocado toast are all served hot and fresh with crispy salad and yummy tapas on the side. The fresh bread is served warm and melts in your mouth! All of it is just great. Felt like living in a little jungle paradise for 4 days. The owners Karen and Olivier were amazing hosts, always engaging in good conversation, which made the stay feel even more cozy. We did the trapeze class and it was fantastic as well. Gracias y hasta pronto!

We loved our stay at Mikado Lodge! It is an incredible property in the middle of the jungle. The room and deck were lovely as you feel like you are in the tree canopy with the sounds of howler monkeys, cicadas, and views of deer and so many species of birds. Bring your binoculars! We enjoyed the pool time, the little trail on site, and the troup of monkeys that came swinging through the trees through in the morning. Aside from the beauty of the nature, everything is just so polished and well-taken care of. It is clear that a lot of thought and time has gone into the design and care of this boutique hotel. The owner, Lolo, was a gracious and accommodating host. She whipped up some delicious meals and was so sweet with our one year old. Playa Avellana is close by so you can go from jungle to beach in about 15 minutes! We would definitely stay there again.

    I liked the small town feel of the area.

    I liked the small town feel of the area. I didn't go explore much as we were there for only two days. I wanted to spend time at the actual lodge. There were many tour options, and one could fill a whole month here and still not do everything. Looking forward to returning.

    We stayed in a really nice african hut.

    We stayed in a really nice african hut. It had a little kitchen and a good shower. The balcony was nice to sit in the evening. The only minus was the bed. This needs to be replaced in my opinion.The food in the restaurant is really good. A little tip we got from the owners was to go to the turtle reffuge on the beach a little further down to the left, as they release the newborns everyday around 5 in the evening. So sunset and turtles!!! If you are lucky.
