Our stay at portales de Tayrona was exceptional - very clean, comfortable, beautiful, an entrance to the park literally beside the hotel, exceptionally friendly and welcoming staff, not to mention a beautiful place surrounded by nature with spectacular views. Highly recommend!!

We were 4 friends travelling for 3 nights. Everything has surpassed our expectations. As it was rainy season, we had the hotel for ourselves but Miguel (who was in reception and bar duties) was incredibly helpful, let us use the amenities as if it was high season, we could even put our own music at the pool. Milagros made sure that our breakfast and dinner was always on point and even when we asked to slightly change the menu, she was more than helpful to accommodate our requests. Overall, we couldn't be happier to have chosen La Casablanca Tayrona and will be sure to return whenever we go back there!

We found the perfect place for us to enjoy a few days in nature with all the amenities of a luxurious accommodation. The owner Thomas has created a wonderful place of peace and relaxation with a lot of love and commitment. Together with his great team, all of our wishes were fulfilled... Among other things, we enjoyed a relaxing massage outside while the wind blew over our bodies, with all the sounds of nature around us. The sensational breakfast, freshly prepared with a lot of love, was brought to our room. And because we liked it so much, we extended our stay and had the opportunity to spend three nights in another cabaña. Both cabañas have a small outdoor pool and a wonderful view of the jungle. After a week with Thomas, his team and the adorable dogs, it was very hard for us to say goodbye. However, if we ever travel to Colombia again, we will definitely visit 4 Pozos again.

This is an amazing and stylish new property, well located in close proximity to Parque Tayrona and the beach at Mendihuaca. It is spacious enough for a large family and has a great kiosk and bbq area. The grounds are lush and well kept as the rest of the property. We felt so welcome by the owners on arrival and the property keepers Luz and Yair looked after us very well throughout our stay and took us on a day trip to the nearby river and made the most delicious sancocho on site. Would definitively recommend a stay here in this family and dog friendly property.

Finca Gordita is a delightful home run by the incredibly friendly and helpful, Juan, who made our visit memorable. We originally booked for a couple of days and then extended to a week. Great value. Our room was simple and comfortable. Juan, let us use his refrigerator and washing machine (for a small fee) and offered us lifts into Calabazo or even Santa Marta when he was going that way. With a large pool, it was a place to easily relax. It’s located about 2 km along the main highway from Calabazo and the western entrance into Tayrona National Park and it set back from the road, from which there's a little traffic noise but it's not intrusive. Staying here was a real pleasure.

It's just a small collection of buildings along a highway...

It's just a small collection of buildings along a highway with major transport vehicles, and all restaurants are open air along the highway. Rather depressing, and not a good spot to get food/snacks for backpacking into the park. Though we were able to get cash from one of the stores, they charged us an 11% fee. As an adventurous person who likes to avoid crowds in national parks, I thought the Calabazo entrance would've been a great way to see the park & wildlife, but it wasn't really worth it. We exited through the Zaino entrance & preferred the accommodations & hiking paths found there. In low season (Nov 27 & 28th) there weren't all that many people anyway.

In general, the online description of the trail is not...

In general, the online description of the trail is not accurate. You are crossing a mountain range.... steep ups and downs followed by a steep down to the resort. Trails are not to U.S./Canada standards especially when one adds in the fact that horse/burrow traffic is a necessity for supplies. Hope for no precipitation.

Calabazzo is located on the main road to Tayrona National...

Calabazzo is located on the main road to Tayrona National Park. It's a typical Colombian village, with 4 pozos a bit further away. You can take a bus at kilometer 25, near the entrance to 4 pozos. We did the same when returning from Tayrona National Park; the bus driver simply pulled over. It's an ideal base for visiting the park.

Calabazo is nestled in the mountains and is the second entrance to Tayrona National Park after El Zaino, which is much more crowded with tourists. Calabazo, on the other hand, is much quieter, making it ideal for hiking, birdwatching, and an undisturbed jungle experience. The hotel opposite Mama Tayrona offers activities, including monkey and toucan watching, and is situated right in the heart of the jungle. Enjoy nature right at the hotel without having to hike extensively.

Calabazo is a great alternative entrance to Tayrona National...

Calabazo is a great alternative entrance to Tayrona National Park, as the other two entrances are used by thousands of people daily. Entering through Calabazo allows you to experience a quieter part of the park.

The pool area with the hydromassage jets was fantastic, a dip in the cool waters of the Piedra River was spectacular, and dining under the trees by the river was wonderful. The food and drinks were healthy and delicious. The hotel's location on the Santa Marta highway is perfect, just half an hour from Santa Marta.
