It's a cosy small house at the back of a farm. It has a kitchen fully equipped. You can park your car in front of the house. There is a terrace which you can use. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. We were welcomed by 2 bottles of wine and local beer. The place is just 25 min drive to Lake Constance (25 min to Rorschach, 1 hour to Germany and less than 1 hour to Austria). There are wonderful places around (Mount Säntis and a nice old town Appenzell). The price is quite reasonable.

This apartment was SO NICE.

This apartment was SO NICE. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Parking was included and was right across the street in the garage. We ate at the Kabob place two doors down and the food was great. Herisau is such a quaint little town and so close to St. Gallen and other areas of interest. There is a MIGROS store across the street and was so convenient. There is no interaction with the owners, but the code they left us got us in and was perfectly fine. If you do stay there, just know that the name of the hotel is NOT listed on the building, so we had a little bit of a hard time locating it.

The town of Herisau isn't particularly interesting in itself...

The town of Herisau isn't particularly interesting in itself. But it's quiet, less expensive than other, more touristy towns, and ideally located for exploring the region. Walter Zoo, the Chocolarium, the Säntis, the town of Appenzell, the town of Vaduz, and so on, are all nearby. I don't like driving, but the traffic there was easy.

A charming little town conveniently located near St. Gallen. A great location for exploring the surrounding area. Several nice restaurants and a large shopping center are nearby. It's also a great place for hiking.

Herisau was not unfamiliar to me, as I grew up in Toggenburg...

Herisau was not unfamiliar to me, as I grew up in Toggenburg. There are many train connections to the Appenzell region, or you can quickly reach St. Gallen and from there take a direct train to Lucerne without changing trains. There's also the option of changing trains in Zurich and going directly to Lugano (Ticino).

A very nice hotel with an apartment where it was possible to cook, a spacious apartment ideal for a family of 4. Comfortable beds. A big advantage was the possibility of using the hotel garage for storing bicycles with the possibility of charging e-bikes. Very helpful receptionist at the hotel.
