Halifax drivers are the worst.

Halifax drivers are the worst. I am more comfortable driving in Toronto or Montreal than this east coast town. Hotel prices are atrocious. The airport is a long way out of town. The only way to do this place is on a cruise ship. The attitude here seems to be - this is the last place you can go because the Atlantic Ocean is your only other option!

We loved the fact that Halifax was central for touring in our rental car. We especially loved Peggy‘s Cove and Lunenburg. In the city itself, we enjoyed the citadel, the Maritime Museum and the wharf area.

So much to see and do in downtown Halifax.

So much to see and do in downtown Halifax. The mixture of restored historical buildings alongside modern new ones is well done. Lots of good food at moderate prices ruined with 25% more in taxes. Be aware that the airport is rather distant from the city.

The harbour is great and there are some interesting eighbourhoods. I was disappointed at the lack of day tours—I did get to sunset at Peggy’s Cove, but no walking tour, harbour tour, wine tour or Mahone Bay/ Lunenburg tour was available. Clearly Halifax is more interested in cruise ship traffic. Maritimes Bus service was very efficient.

The Halifax Waterfront is attractive, with good restaurants.

The Halifax Waterfront is attractive, with good restaurants. Taking the ferry between Halifax and Dartmouth is inexpensive and fun. Nice trail on the Dartmouth side as it winds along the waterfront. Also, good restaurants on the Dartmouth side (in the downtown area), especially the ever popular Canteen (make a reservation).

Halifax is such an easy place to navigate and walk.

Halifax is such an easy place to navigate and walk. It's a city with a small town feel. I really enjoyed the restaurants, the people and the whole surrounding area to explore. The citadel is worth going to and affordable. There are lots of pubs and Alexander Keith's Brewery has a museum and tours.

This was my second time staying at The Hallburton and I had a good experience both times. Staying at this hotel is like staying at a friends house or a B&B - the rooms feel homey and so does the building itself. Rooms are very clean. Having a glass of wine in the evening or a coffee in the morning in the library room with the fireplace is lovely. The location is great and is a fairly close walk to the waterfront as well as most other places downtown. The staff are friendly and accommodating. My room was upgraded which I really appreciated.

Cambridge Suites is our "go-to" hotel when we visit Halifax. Fabulous location, access to good parking, generously sized rooms, comfortable beds and great staff! We were very impressed during our recent stay by how clean everything was! It is a well cared for property and it shows. Though it is an older building, you get the sense that management is working to upgrade things over time. We very much appreciate the sense of pride in a job well done at Cambridge Suites. Our home away from home while in Halifax! :)

Central location in downtown Halifax. Parking is free in the weekend, but everybody knows, so finding a spot near the hotel isn't so easy.
