Such a cute little town to use as you adventure base.

Such a cute little town to use as you adventure base. There are so many different activities and stores that it’s impossible to see and do everything in even a week. Everyone in town is so friendly and I never felt unsafe, even during the late night block party I stumbled on. Watch out for the casino though. They do not like it if you win anything, and they will make sure to finagle the money back. For us it was the ribbon “security” band on the US tender— after we won a few hundred dollars and then started loosing, they made sure to bring to our attention they “couldn’t take the only hundreds we had left” because of the ribbon, even though they prefer and want you to pay in US Dollars to begin with. They made sure this happened only after our winnings were down so that we left in the negative. Other than the casino, which I highly recommend you avoid, this is such a quaint cute little Hispanic town with the friendliest people.

It’s a mountainous area and remind me of my country, Haiti. We went to the downtown market, not much for tourists. Also, they don’t speak much English over there compared to other cities but it’s a cool place.

San Ignacio has enough for one to two days of activities for a typical tourist. The Mayan Temple complexes are the main attraction (the one in San Ignacio is easy to reach but less interesting than the others a bit further away). The Iguana conservation project and chocolate making demonstration are worthwhile if you have time. The drive from the airport is not scenic, but it's simple to navigate.

This is a great town in the heart of the Cayo (Belize). Touted as a "backpackers destination" I consider this a must-visit for those visiting Belize as the residents are friendly and really give a taste for what parts of Belizian culture can be like.

San Ignacio was a great location to explore the jungle and many different sites. The ATM (cave site) and several Mayan ruins are nearby and we even went into Guatemala for a day trip to see TiKal which is one of the largest Mayan ruins.

The local people are friendly.

The local people are friendly. There are a variety of restaurants and several tours available to see things of interest around the area. It is an easy transfer into Guatemala. You can walk most anywhere you need to go. We had breakfasts at a small cafe close to where we stayed. We had lunch and beers at one of the local taverns. Dinner was at a place across from the tavern one night and at a place on the square the next. I highly recommend Maya Tours. They have a big local market on Saturdays.

Let's say it straight, the property may not be the best you will see on your trip, but Javier Pereira, the manager, made it all! Service and kindness second to none, always ready to help, knowledgeable of all things around and able to do some magic on top of having an historical culture to give any of your Mayan questions answers. If it wasn't for him I would probably not have left a review but the man deserves distinction. From a fellow hospitality worker I know it's a tough world, stay passionate as you are, thank you!

Probably the best hostel I've stayed at on this trip. The staff are great, the space is really nice, the bathrooms are huge which is nice. Beds are super comfy, you'll sit on it and be like oh yeah this is what a normal bed feels like. Breakfast is also the best breakfast I've had so far on this trip. I was sorta stuck here for 4 days due to poor planning and I'm glad it was at this hostel.

The very best thing about our stay was the restaurant!! The chefs were FANTASTIC! Such amazing gourmet food! We loved it all so much! It was also fun to have so much birds and wildlife around us to watch as we ate. The owner and workers were SO nice provided such great service too! It was located in a good spot, near San Ignacio but remote to feel like a jungle! Cute housing units too.

"The Dog Momma" as she is known because of her group that helps lady street doggies also REALLY helped me out during my stay halfway up the hill in San Ignacio. She personally took me to three places to try to get cash out or cash back because I was having difficulty with the pin on my VISA cards! This was service above and beyond!
