Robert and Becky the owners are gracious hosts and always willing to provide advice and help with planning trips. There are only three rooms here, we had the ground floor room which was very spacious although a little dark. Decoration is quite eclectic and unusual but very stylish. A comfortable bed and constant hot water provide the basics for a comfortable stay. The public areas have lots of seating options, two balconies and lots of books to peruse. For anyone wishing to just chill out in peaceful surroundings and close to nature (many birds in the large garden) it is just perfect.
Dining options are limited so we had breakfast and dinner here on both nights. Food was excellent and Becky is always willing to accommodate dietary tastes.

The property is absolutely perfect , only second to the Host Lisa , who is also perfect. The house is massive. Two huge comfortable rooms with excellent mattresses and AC to take the heat off. The kitchen and dining room are exactly as I would have in my own place . Everything you would need is there. There is even a general store maybe 10 mins up the road where you can get everything you need. Even the towels provided are super soft. Whole house is spotless

The number one thing visitors should realize is that Crooked Tree is for practical purposes an island in a lake in the middle of nowhere. The "downtown" area of the Village consists of a small handful of buildings, one of which is a convenience/grocery store. No ATM that I could see (or Google would reveal). A very few small restaurants are scattered around the area. For birders, it's absolutely one of the best locations in the world & well worth traveling to (45 exotic species by water one morning, 38 by land the next). But there aren't any beaches, shops, or other sorts of traditional tourist attractions there. I stayed at a lovely house with a full kitchen, so I made chicken with rice & beans for dinner, which I bought at the village store. Bird's Eye View Lodge looks like a very nice eco-lodge to stay in; it's right on the Lagoon, has a pool, rents canoes & kayaks, & offers birding trips by land & boat. I did my birding trips with them, though I stayed at the private home.

Crooked Tree is very small with rather rutted dirt roads but that is part of its charm. We loved eating at Carries Cafe which is only open Wed. -Sun and consists of a kitchen located in a garage with one table. The food was great.
It is lovely to walk around and see all of the birds and farm life. We really enjoyed it here.

Birdwatching is nice at the lagoon but overall, we were a bit disappointed. Crooked Tree is supposed to be one of the hotspots for bird watchers, we saw a greater variety of birds in all the other places we stayed in Belize. We found Crooked Tree a bit depressing. There are no shops, no restaurants, only dirt roads and other than the lagoon, nothing to see or do. It's not a beautiful place. It's not worth staying more than two days.
