Chobe House offers bright, large, clean, comfortable spaces where to stay. But what made it exceptional for me were the following 3 aspects: 1. Its ethical approach to tourism by offering reasonable prices and investing in the local people. Many lodges charge exorbitant, abusive prices that are not distributed equitably to their workers or the community they are in. Additionally, the all-inclusive and ‘enclosed’ nature of the lodges is detrimental to the community because it deprives local businesses, such as restaurants, bars, taxi drivers, etc… from developing. Chobe House offers activities and meal options if you want to add any on, but by not automatically including them, you have the flexibility to self-manage your trip and also engage with the local trade. 2. The wonderful team at the premises led by Tshi and Twinkle. Tshi is always welcoming and efficient. Twinkle has a contagious upbeat manner and is always helpful. 3. The large floating raft on the Chobe River where you could sit in tranquility and try to find a hiding hippo in the water or marvel at the colours of the sunset.

Everything. We have been travelling for 2 years and hardly ever do we give 10/10 as there’s always something that could be better. Not here!! Secure parking - always very important for our motorbikes. Room - cannot fault it. Our own little home from home. Every detail has been thought about as if the room has been lived in by the owners, not just turned into a guest house. The bed was super comfortable and large, comfy armchairs, good working desk, fabulous wardrobe and storage including hangers!! There was also a patio where we could sit outside. Loads and loads of power sockets all round the room and in convenient places. We had no trouble charging anything at all. Bathroom was beautiful and the shower fantastic. All toiletries provided and super thick towels. Breakfast was amazing. Cooked to order and hot! Lumba is a lovely person and fabulous host. She couldn’t do enough for us and looked after us extremely well. We felt like a part of the family. We extended our stay and stayed for five nights in the end. Such a wonderful place.
