The owners are very kind, subtly attentive and polite. The building and grounds are beautiful and extremely well kept. The rooms have very comfortable beds and pillows. All rooms have clever key fobs that work for the room and front door. There is a breakfast lounge come bar, which although I didn’t use it, in the evening you can have a drink and leave a note to say what you’ve had (I like this honesty system). The owners are clearly breakfast people and take huge pride in making it special and it really was. There was a lot to choice from and all clearly excellent quality food and drink. Afterwards I was also given two cakes with a takeaway bag, really nice touch. There is a coffee machine in the room with high quality cups which are branded and match the sugar and cream (I like those touches). They have animals (two goats and a donkey) in an adjacent field) so if you stay with children they will love that. There is an elegant style and attention to detail about all aspects of the place. I will definitely stay again, will look forward to it.

As a business client, I understand that some work is still in progress, and they are unable to provide the full experience they aim for. However, it’s clear that even the staff feels disappointed about welcoming guests under these circumstances. That being said, this is a beautiful place, and the team is highly trained and extremely professional. I will definitely be returning for all my future meetings and stays here. The hotel is a traditional small town hotel in the Kempen region. We were on a bike tour. While it is old fashioned (as some reviews have mentioned) the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and we received a warm welcome and hearty breakfast.

    Breakfast was good.the management very friendly,(the wifes English better than the Husband.)The biggest problem was finding somewhere to get an evening meal.(most restaurants are closed on a Monday in Belgium)I had to ride all the way back into Retie to find somewhere.

    Great location, brilliant service (including finding a restaurant for us on our first evening). A fantastic breakfast too… probably the best we have had in a European hotel for many years. Safe private car parking was very welcome.
