Very pretty and lots to do in the surrounding area- only...
Very pretty and lots to do in the surrounding area- only half an hour from Canberra.
The local hotel serves great meals and there are takeaways plus a grocery store attached to the petrol station selling everything you need to make your own meals.

Unless you're there for the wineries, there is very little else to recommend about Murrumbateman....I had read such good reports too. I found the public areas & footpaths very scruffy & needing a mow & weed. This seemed to be all over the town. Loved the silo art & would like to have had more time to explore the cemetery but wasn't to be.

Welcoming hosts made our stay at this historical homestead incredible. A step back in time into a magnificently furnished homestead surrounded by magnificent gardens. Situated close to Yass and only a short distance from Canberra.

We love this place for pet friendly accomodation.
We love this place for pet friendly accomodation. Its comfortable and easy to get to. The local pub has plenty of outdoor tables so you can have a great meal, just down the road with your pet. The only fault is, we wish they'd use the extra money you pay for having a pet , to clean the carpets.

I was on my way from Mount Gambier to Newcastle and had chosen the Merryville for my overnight stay. What a lovely experience. When I arrived, I was greeted very warmly by Rob, one of the hosts. The property itself is massive, with history looking at you from every corner. Basically, as a guest you get the whole west wing of the building with among other things two bedrooms and a sepate bathroom. If you only need one bedroom, the other one stays emtpy so you don't need to share the bathroom with strangers. Maybe that is not explicitly mentioned in the description but important to many people. The surroundings are very quiet, so I had a great night's sleep. The next morning, before my departure, Ning prepared a very nice braekfast with yoghurt, muesli, fresh fruit, coffee & tea, toast, jam and other condiments. I had a great time. Definitely recommend.

The restaurant had "communal kitchen", which did not appeal to us.
Overall, the location was convenient but we felt the rate of about $350 per night was excessive

We stayed 1 night to catch up with friends and family in the area so did not use any of the facilities except to sleep and shower. We booked 3 rooms. The rooms were comfortable. One of the rooms shower had some mould.
The bathroom behind reception needed a clean and an unpleasant smell was wafting through the passage. The hotel could do with a make over. The location is great to walk around the village and it’s easy access to Yass and the local wineries. Overall it’s a lovely spot but needs to be freshened up.

Idyllic spot perfect for a.quiet weekend break. Murrumbateman is a 5 minute drive away to stock up groceries and then it's just unwind, relax and recharge. The barn has everything you need for a great stay. I'll definitely be back.
Things to be aware of - the toilet is compostible (no biggie at all. 100% smell free) and I'd recommend bringing your own water to drink.

The addition of a well equipped large open plan communal kitchen with food and drinks, wine and beer and a selection of local products for purchase was a surprise and welcome addition at the hotel entry. I will be sure to utilise that on my next visit. Rooms were clean and well appointed.

The Murrumbateman pub is an amazing place. The people, the food and the atmosphere are just amazing and will definately stay there again and just go back when passing for the great food and excellent service.

Located behind the hotel, and near some eateries, general store and Petrol Station, it was handy. The room was spacious and well maintained. Many of the Wineries within a 15-20 minute drive of each other.
