Having been to and really loving Hobart, my daughter and I decided to try the next biggest city in Tasmania, Launceston. It's not as vibrant and does not offer as many attractions as Hobart, but does boast the glorious Cataract Gorge and Tamar Wetlands. With a car, you can also visit landmarks including Cradle Mountain, the Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary and Freycinet National Park. We also chanced upon the Truffle Farm Tasmania on our drive to the wildlife sanctuary and stopped for some truffle oil, mustard and cream!Guest review byHarinderMalaysia - 10.0

Great town to visit - proximity to great landscapes such as Ben Lomond, Liffey Falls, Cradle Mountain and Strahan, nearby wine regions and of course Hobart, the south and west is just a couple of hours or so drive away. I loved Launceston and wished we had stayed longer.
I loved Launceston and wished we had stayed longer. As we flew in and out of Launceston, we didn't consider staying longer. Everyone we met were incredibly friendly and helpful. The main part of the city is very easy to walk around. I ate at a lovely cafe for breakfast and the food and service were amazing. Coffee is also brilliant.Guest review byKimAustralia

The Audlington Hotel was one of the best accommodations I've ever stayed in. The owner was very helpful and knowledgable, showing me everything necessary to have a comfortable stay. The spa bath was very welcome after many hours of driving and walking, and the view from the balcony over Launceston was lovely. Recently renovated and very comfortable room on first floor in main building, lovely tiled walk-in shower (though hand basin a bit small) in bathroom, very comfy bed, quiet room. Lift from reception, no steps required. Many other Hotel Launceston rooms require climbing a short flight of stairs, or have shower-over-bath, so check with staff if either is an issue.
