It is always difficult to get accommodation in Kalgoorlie, last time we stayed in this town there was only one place available ( and it wasn't brilliant!) so I was delighted when we could get in at the Railway Inn. Only one night was available on the internet but luckily I asked at check in and they were able to give us extra nights.

There is a lot to see and as we had gone to the Lake...

There is a lot to see and as we had gone to the Lake Perkolilli to see the vintage car racing, we did not have time to look at everything. We did go the the Mine Museum, and the Gold Museum which are well worth going too. The architecture is fantastic and we would have liked to have a good look around and enjoy one of the walking tours they organise.

We were surprised by the amount of shops on the main street...

We were surprised by the amount of shops on the main street that had closed or shut down completely. Also hiring a car was very expensive so had to use public transport as an alternative. Also the Kalgoorlie Half day tour provided by the Kalgoorlie Tourist Office was very expensive at $400 per person and thus took the public transport bus on their circuit routes around Kalgoorlie and Boulder instead. The Irish Pub and Paddys Dining we found very good value for money and also pleasant.

We went to Lake Ballard Sculptures, Superpit, and the two mining museums. All interesting and informative. Loved the gold room with the historic gold samples. Sculptures were worth seeing and a great idea. Also cruised around Kalgoorlie - Boulder. Just absorbing the ambience of a historic mining town.

What a great town to visit.

What a great town to visit. So many interesting tourist spots and the buildings around town were an absolute delight. The food was excellent in town. Very impressed. You definitely need a car to visit some spots however, the town itself has a lot to offer and is very walkable. Great restaurants and fabulous food at the health food store in Hannan St.

Very interesting town. Great pubs.

Very interesting town. Great pubs. Lots of lovely old buildings. The Superpit lookout was closed when we were there which was disappointing but I have heard it is fascinating. Glad we made the effort to go there. The town of Coogardie is also worth visiting and is only half hours drive away.

The check-in was friendly and efficient. Our room was very spacious and had all the amenities we needed. The shower was great and the wifi worked perfectly. We really appreciated the free guest laundry. The motel is well located, 10 to 15 minutes' walk from the centre of Kalgoorlie.
