FAQs about hotels in Hobart

Historic City Comes of Age

Historic Hobart, with its convict past, was often referred to as Australia’s neglected backwater. How times have changed as its temperate climate, quiet lifestyle and fabulous food and markets make it a revitalising tourist destination along the Derwent River in Tasmania.

The city’s significant maritime history begins at Constitution Dock, situated along the waterfront and facing the beautiful harbour. Nearby Battery Point and affluent Sandy Bay feature Georgian and Victorian architecture and the first settler’s cottages in Australia’s 2nd oldest city.

Escape to a memorable view of Hobart town from the snow-covered Mount Wellington or get close up and personal in the city’s quaint streets. Hobart comes alive during the colourful Salamanca Market, held every Saturday morning, where you can bag a bargain or sample mouth-watering produce such as local wines and cheeses.

Cascade Brewery and Cadbury’s Chocolates have tours of these Tasmanian icons or visit Wrest Point Casino, a popular event and entertainment centre.

The annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in December and Tulip Festival in the Royal Botanical Gardens swells the population in this small capital city. Make sure you check Booking.com ahead of time for your colonial cottage, cosy B&B or waterfront apartment.

The people, food & wine and the beautiful geography of Hobart and Tasmania in general. If you’re visiting from overseas, Hobart is definitely worth including in your itinerary. We attended some really interesting museums and learned a lot of things about our history and environment that we didn’t know before. The seafood on offer at the restaurants on the piers was fresh, delicious and reasonably priced.

We had an amazing trip to Hobart.

We had an amazing trip to Hobart. The city is full of charm, with stunning views, delicious food, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We visited Bruny Island, Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, and the Tahune Airwalk — each place offered unforgettable experiences and breathtaking nature. We also visited Salamanca local market on Saturday. For those with a sweet tooth, I highly recommend visiting the Honey Badger Dessert Cafe, delicious desserts we had there. Overall, we enjoyed exploring the waterfront and the beautiful landscapes surrounding the city. It was a wonderful trip, and we would love to visit again!

I liked the Atrium bar/restaurant. We made a few family catch-ups there so didn’t have to travel far. The beds were really comfortable. The room was spacious and had everything we wanted. It was nice to look out of our room and see a good view of Hobart. I loved how it was so close to everything the hotel was so nothing was off limits to us. Our flight was leaving later in the day so was really happy to be able to have a late checkout then wait in the Atrium for a coffee before we had to leave.

Very spacious, modern, clean. Location PERFECT for Salamanca market - virtually just around the corner. All the piers a stones throw from apartment block. Lifts to get you to upper floors. Had an issue with fluctuating prices of unit - which I should have taken up with Booking.com - hotel could not do anything about it. Could have been approx $70 cheaper. Next time I’ll go direct to hotel to book !! I have found my Hobart CBD accomodation for future visits. Highly recommended.
