Nice little town but very expensive. Only went there to go to the Historic Village which was very good and has improved from our last visit 7 or 8 years ago. Herberton is a town you pass through on the way to somewhere else... other than the Miners Museum and the Village there is nothing to see or do there

the friday night dinners at the bowls club are so so good.
the friday night dinners at the bowls club are so so good. great price and a very different menu than your usual bowls club food. we went specifically for the Royal Hotel smoke session. food and music was fantastic. there are some good walks around the old mine site to do. Check out which weekends have the steam train running and do the ride, listen to the talk done by the dedicated volunteers and keep the historic train running. the historic village is only just outside the town a few kms and you can easily spend a day wandering around the site and checking it all out. they have a cafe there that does good food as well. All this and you are only a 20 minute drive into Atherton

The Herberton Mining Museum was a pleasant surprise.
The Herberton Mining Museum was a pleasant surprise. It is free but donations are welcome as it is run by volunteers. Graham was a wealth of knowledge and a great story teller. We highly recommend a visit! The Historical Village is also a favourite. Every time we visit there is something new. There is plenty of history in Herberton, with beautiful historical buildings. There are plenty of walking tracks and a beautiful river.
