Forbes has some lovely historic buildings , well worth a walk around. The Wetlands and bird hides are beautiful, a very picturesque and peaceful spot. The tourist information centre well worth the visit to see what else is in and around the town ( biscuit factory tours, sculptures by the Lachlan river etc). Our accommodation at Appleyard B&B Forbes was excellent, well presented and very helpful people our visit was too short, we were en route to Mildura, we would like to return one day and take in more of the Forbes area, and would stay at Appleyard B&B we would definitely recommend this accommodation.Guest review byJanez(John)Australia - 10.0

The Sculptures down the Lachlan were spectacular. The McFeeter's Motor Museum is worth a visit. The cafe at the Visitor's Centre is very good and the meals at the Hotel Forbes were very good in taste and value.Guest review byDianneAustralia - 10.0

I'd recommend Forbes to anybody who likes country towns, it is one of the best I have visited. Nice lake in the middle of the town. Good for dogs and bird watchers as Gum Swamp is dog friendly and has an abundance of birds.Guest review byPaulAustralia - 10.0
Great local attractions.
Great local attractions. The wetland bird sanctuary was beautiful and I could have spent more time there. This is a great place to spend a couple of days and start the Sculptures down the Lachlan drive. We had some great local food and coffee and the town looked beautiful and clean. Everything one needs for a overnight stay on the road. Very comfortable beds - electric blankets (we visited in mid winter and Forbes can get very cold)- iron and ironing board - air cond heater (takes a few minutes to kick in - but reasonably quiet) Rooms appeared very recently refurbished - (Forbes suffered major flooding in this street 9 months ago ! ) The beds felt brand new.
