Definitely plan what you want to do.

Definitely plan what you want to do. It has the vibe of a very, very sleepy town. It may come alive for certain events however make sure you know in advance what you want to do and where you want to go.

There are a lot of interesting places, such as museums and art galleries, to see. Silverton and its surrounds were also good to visit. We visited the Mining Museum which gave an interesting presentation of the mining industry from the perspective of a miner. The Trades Hall exhibits gave a good perspective of the union differences from the those of the mining companies. I enjoyed going to the Mundi Mundi lookout and to the nearby reservoir. The Mad Max Museum is good if you are a fan. The dinner we had at the Demo Club was good and value for money. The sculpture park near Silverton is a must see.

Plenty of things to do in around the Broken Hill area to suit all tastes. Broken Hill's history is worth exploring. Plenty of places for the Art lover, bird watchers or foodie to explore as well. Short day trips to nearby towns are easy. Silverton is a must for everyone! Broken Hill Distillery was a very pleasant, interesting place is well worth a visit even if you're not a Gin drinker.

We loved Broken Hill, the Line of Load reserve was awesome, The Royal Flying Doctors Service heritage tour was fantastic. Bells milk bar and retro home is worth a look. The daydream mine tour brilliant (you have to drive on a 12km dirt road to get there), Mad Max museum, old ghost town and heritage goal in Silverton were also fantastic, Recommend Astra Hotel for food, the staff were really helpful here.

Only 3 full days but saw and did heaps, Recommend seeing the Living Sculptures, Royal Flying Doctor Base, all the pubs for good meals, Pro Hart gallery, Silverton and surrounds, Mines and Loades Memorial, Bells Cafe, Broken Hill South. See how many goats, kangaroos, horses, emus, donkeys and snakes you can see. If you want to go to Menindee Lakes you need more time.

Lovely, quiet, beautifully restored hotel with comfortable bed and private bathroom (old world charm with modern comforts). Accommodation only (no pub), which means no noisy patrons on the balcony. Bliss.

The hotel was very centrally located, which made it super easy to get to and from the train station and to downtown Broken Hill. We also enjoyed being able to sit outside on the balcony.
