What a lovely place in Innsbruck! The area is close enough to walk to town but far enough to have a bit of peace and quiet. The building itself is stunning and the the design elements make for a very enjoyable stay. Our room was big enough for all our stuff and to relax in. We also enjoyed using the bicycles to discover other areas and places. Next time we'll also use the gym!

The view from my room towards the mountains was stunning! Everything was very comfortable - very charming modern design touches that were a pleasure to see. The location was excellent - I actually chose it because it is right beside the train station. I was able to walk to Stift Wilten towards the south, and the old city center towards the north.

Ski Resort of Royal Splendour

Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Alps, Innsbruck is not only a world-class European ski resort, it’s also the former seat of Maximilian I’s Holy Roman Empire.

This imperial legacy has left its mark, most notably in the Old Town where beautiful Rococo buildings sit alongside pastel facades and typically Tyrolean, flower-adorned windows. The visitable Hofburg imperial court owes its modern appearance to 18th-century Empress Maria Theresia.

The Hofkirche contains a memorial tomb for Maximilian I, and his life is depicted in frescoes on the Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof) nearby, named after the gleaming, copper tiles lining its entrance.

Flying into Innsbruck Airport, it’s easy to see why the city was so highly regarded. Practically every street ends with a view of the Alps, lush in summer, snowy white in winter. Nestled on a slope is Schloss Ambras, ex-residence of Archduke Ferdinand II, while the surroundings provide summer mountaineering, hiking and golf.

In winter of course it’s all about the fantastic Innsbruck skiing and snowboarding. Ski areas include Nordkette mountain, accessed by cable car and chairlifts near the town’s hotels and B&Bs on Booking.com. Its varied pistes means that several international competitions are held here, as well as the Bergiselschanze ski jump contest. The après-ski is laidback and centred around chalet-style bars and traditional restaurants.

    I loved the beauty of Innsbruck and the friendly, kind locals. There was a wine festival and the atmosphere was wonderful with local musicians dressed in Tyrolean outfits and playing delightful music. The shops were great with many beautiful, well-made things to buy. It was delightful to walk into the old town by the river and the water was a gorgeous teal colour. Also drinking water is very pure and does not have fluoride which was a bonus. I was so taken with Innsbruck that I can’t wait to return.

    Unexpected great discovery.

    Unexpected great discovery. Visited in August and had an amazing experience, walking around the city and exploring nature around. Came by car from Luxembourg, roads were great, and not extremely busy. There are many hiking and biking trails with different degrees of difficulty just around the city, if traveling with small children, elder people or just don’t feel like walking up to the mountains, take the Nordkettenbahnen cable car from the city centre (c. 50 euros to the top), totally worth it. For some cultural activity, I recommend trying the Ambras castle. Just walking around the city and interacting with people was a great experience.

    The cable car to the Top of the Mountain was an excellent value and I'm SO glad we did this. The view is spectacular! We were skeptical about the weather but we were above the clouds at the Top and it was fantastic. The city is beautiful and a delight to wander around. Everyone should visit this great city.

    There's a real variety of activities to enjoy.

    There's a real variety of activities to enjoy. We bought the Innsbruck Card and took two cable car trips into the mountains and enjoyed spectacular views. We also visited the Bergisel Ski Jump - something a bit different and impressed with the teenage ski jumpers who were training during our visit. The city feels very safe. Lovely shops & great restaurants, all with the backdrop of the Alps. We loved it!

    We were transiting to Italy but were unexpectedly pleased with the river and scenery so close to the town. The buildings in the town were interesting and it was a pleasure to walk around a city not filled with the ubiquitous shops now found in so many destinations.

    Innsbruck was Great!

    Innsbruck was Great! I love the city and the people were friendly. Lots of Architecture and History to see. The public transportation is easy to use and we didn't need a car which was great. We went to the zoo (awesome) and Ambras Castle and a few churches (Beautiful). Also went to a Gundolf Tyrolian Dinner show which was fantastic. We didn't have a bad day, even when it was raining. Innsbruck is a very walkable city and there are sights everywhere. All the food we had was delicious too. Meow Meow Pizza was sooo yummy. I would recommend anyone to visit and I hope to be back some day.

The rooms are very nice and the beds are extremely comfortable. The breakfasts are served from very early morning.     The location of the hotel is perfect, close to the central station and the old town of Innsbruck. We received information beforehand on self check-in but once we got there we had help from a very friendly receptionist who also informed us about the Innsbruck welcome card and other discounts available via the hotel. The room was clean and the cleaner also came every day which was much appreciated.

    Perfectly placed city centre hotel, quiet surrounding, close to the picturesque old town and railway station.     We had a super trip here - the hotel is centrally located in the old town. We were met by friendly staff and shown to a very lovely room which was well furnished and spacious. As we were only in Innsbruck for one night we ate at the hotel - again very nice. Breakfast the next day was good - many options and extremely friendly staff. I would certainly return.
