A warm welcome. The owner gave us a menu to order a pizza delivery as we were travelling on foot and had no way of getting to a restaurant. Delicious Pizzas duly arrived. Great room and an excellent breakfast.

Very large, 2 bed apartment operated by a very friendly couple. We were doing a cycling tour and booked last minute (an hour before arrival!) due to a a bike breaking down. They went above and beyond to accommodate us, allowing us to store bikes in the garage, bringing us homemade cakes, and providing great restaurant recommendations. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Arnoldstein was my starting point for several day trips by motorcycle. I stayed at the Wallner Wirt inn and also ate there, enjoying their excellent cuisine. Culturally, the ruins in Arnoldstein and their history are among the attractions.

A small, quiet town on the border road, with many small tourist eateries and a wide range of sustainable cycling routes. Lunch and breakfast are served at the Cafè Central, where local cuisine is served in Italian.

Arnoldstein lies on the transit route to Italy.

Arnoldstein lies on the transit route to Italy. However, it's also worth a longer stay. There's plenty to hike and explore by bike. Many people start their Via Alpina hike here: https://www.via-alpina.org/de/weg/

I used to stop here all the time, even filling up before, but without staying overnight. This time we slept more than well, with the dogs, in silence and with centuries-old fir trees outside the window. Impeccably clean, and the staff were helpful and smiling.

Arnoldstein itself doesn't have a great deal to offer, but...

Arnoldstein itself doesn't have a great deal to offer, but it's a good starting point for reaching Italy (10 minutes by car to the border) and Slovenia, and of course for taking nice trips within Austria. So, if you're looking for a nice town to eat and stroll around in the evening or even during the day, this isn't the place for you. Villach, about 20 minutes away, is a better option.

Very comfortable apartment in the upper part of Arnoldstein town, two minutes by walk from the ancient Klosterruine fortress. The apartment is close to bakeries, cafés, supermarkets and few restaurants: you can reach each of them with a 5 minutes walk. The spaces into the apartment are really well distributed and generally you can find everything you might need for a long weekend stay. Hosts are really kind and helpful: if you need something, just write them a quick message and they'll be back to you in a while.
