Zur Alten Mine is situated 5 km outside of Graskop. Guests can walk around the dam in the gardens or hike up to the old mine.

The tastefully decorated chalets are fully equipped and some of them offer views. Each unit comes with a private bathroom with a shower and a hairdryer. Everything: the place is lovely, there are opportunities to walk around and observe the old mining ventilation shaft, the breakfast is outstanding.(homemade meat, cheese and other supplements). A wonderful location with incredible views of the valley. The grounds of the resort are beautiful and peaceful, with antelopes strolling peacefully. It is part of a larger, fenced-in area where you can walk and admire the views. The staff deserves special mention, as they always have time for a warm smile and a kind word. I haven't been to a place in a long time where every meal was so delicious and refined, from breakfast through the à la carte dinner, to the atmospheric Braai. The icing on the cake was the safari organized by the hotel, which also met our expectations.

I felt very safe and secure there. A delightful bonus was seeing giraffe feeding on the trees so close to the walking path just steps from the guest house door! I also saw a warthog and some impala very nearby the place as well. It was a lovely experience staying here! I loved sitting on the porch watching the sunset and hearing the birds singing in the mornings! The hosts Zelda and George were very kind and made sure I found the place alright. They were also very responsive to my questions and concerns.

Even more exceptional were the animals walking right through the property, the ease of booking a safari tour through the lodge, and proximity to Kruger.

Everyone were so polite, nice and tried to make our stay unforgetable. The game drives were really something, you experience only once in life. Special thanks to Sean, who drove us through fantastic locations and answered all of our quetions about. We saw 4 of bug five animals on one ride and saw many others. We did not see the leopards but seeing four black rhinos together was more rarely experience, and Sean told us he never in his life saw anything like that. The food was also amazing, they know exactly what they are doing. Thanks again. Stay here you won’t regret.

This was our favourite from all our accomodations we've stayed in South Africa and here's why: - Jenny & Ruan are amazing hosts that go above & beyond to make your stay memorable - Beautiful interior design of the lodge with a unique touch. They've done everything by themselves and I would immediately hire them as my interior architects :-) - Wonderful garden with great views of the Drakensberg mountains. Bushbabies might even stop by for a visit in the evening! - Possibility to do Safaris right around the corner (Ruan is also a trained guide) - Place to go for wine lovers, Ruan is also a professional in the wine field! - Breakfast is freshly prepared and delicious! We loved the fresh fruits and Musli as well as the delicious Omelettes. Also they prepared dinner just for the two of us and it was a very nice and romantic dinner!
