Very enjoyable had great hosts always greeted you with a smile, noise was very minimal and rooms were always clean and tidy each day

Set in tranquil surroundings with large landscaped grounds and a picturesque garden terrace with mountain views, Tongariro Crossing Lodge offers uniquely spacious rooms with historic character. Tongariro Crossing Lodge was a great place to stay for our family (parents, 2 adult daughters). Our main purpose was to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing the next day. However, after consulting with Louis (owner) and looking at the predicted cloud cover, we opted to delay the hike an extra day Louis kindly suggested alternative shorter hikes/activities near by, which were very enjoyable. Louis had also reserved spots for us on the shuttle (to/from hike) but upon our arrival and discussion, we decided to drive ourselves to the carpark which ended up being a good idea since the day we hiked was extremely cloudy, not clearing up until about 1pm. Driving ourselves allowed us to be flexible and enjoy the stunning views for another hour instead of rushing back to make the 5:30pm shuttle. In addition to the room (ours was newly renovated), you could also pay for a continental breakfast and sack lunch which Louis brought to our room the night before the hike. Very convenient and yummy!! Lodge was also within walking distance of restaurants (two that we ate at had great views of mountains, sunset) and small store. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay - perfect for us :). Louis was also very responsive prior to our trip, answering my many questions.

The owners were friendly and personable. We enjoyed their company had a lovely breakfast. The garden and the surroundings were just beautiful. We had a very nice room and we’re comfortable.

ASURE Cooks Gardens Motor Lodge features a garden setting, 600 metres from the CBD and Wanganui Opera House. It offers free on-site parking and unlimited free WiFi access. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Everything we needed was there and the staff were incredibly friendly and personable. When we arrived the owner was incredibly welcoming and told us places to visit, things to do and where to eat dinner. She was an exceptional host. Would definitely stay again!

Braemar Motor Lodge offers self-catering accommodation just 300 metres from the shops and restaurants in Palmerston North city centre. All rooms include satellite TV and free, high-speed WiFi. Lovely hosts. Very clean and tidy. Easy parking. Great value for your money.

Location was great, about 50 km from The Mont Tongariro National Park. Everything was great and clean. Communication with host was great too.
