Amazing stay at Yui's Lodge. The private onsen was an added bonus. Don't be put off by the relatively low numbers of comments on Booking, this place is definitely a gem, especially if you are looking for an authentic stay in the Japanese mountains of Kyushu.
We loved our stay and Yui was an incredible host. We would love to come back again!

We all really enjoyed the location of the property. Ideal for hiking. It was very well presented, well equipped and tastefully decorated. We had a great stay. Yui was really helpful. She was good to communicate with and made us very welcome. We all had a massage with her which was so so relaxing after a day on the mountain. We all wish we could have stayed longer .

Conveniently located, decent-sized cottage with a great view. The host was incredibly nice, prepared flowers upon our arrival and brought us freshly made refreshments every day. The traditional outdoor bathtub was definitely the highlight of my stay.

Staff were extremely friendly, we received a full tour of the cabin on arrival as well as a welcome drink made of locally grown tankan (orange) juice and a dessert on the second night. The cabin was clean, well set up, and comfortable. It is in a quiet location and the outlook was extremely private.

A beautiful hotel with fully equipped cabins that feel like luxury in the countryside. The outdoor bath and hammock feature exceptional sea views. Beds were extremely comfortable. The food was amongst the best we had in Japan, each meal was truly exceptional. The owners are kind and caring, and can offer excellent advice about sightseeing and hikes.
Renting a car is a necessity to reach this hotel, but is also highly recommended as the best way to explore Yakushima.
