Everything was above our expectations. The food was very good and all the staff were exceptional. We did a guided tour and it was great. The hiking trails allow you to see so much wildlife and it’s away from the city which is great. It’s a hidden gem and we will definitely be returning. The pics don’t do it justice it is very beautiful and the rooms are gorgeous. Very clean and you can tell they really focus on being ecological and caring about the environment. We stayed at other hotels during our trip but this one topped them all and had the best food! They have vegetarian options on the menu as well which were great.

The bungalows at La Leona Eco Lodge have no electricity and are lighted with candles. They have plenty of ventilation and toiletries are provided. The bathrooms can be both shared and private. Everything was just right! Such a gorgeous location & super friendly staff!! It was our second stay & we love being at La Leona & so close to Corcovado.

This allows you to have the room open to a nice breeze or the comfort of the AC. Wonderful big shower with plenty of hot water. Large refrigerator with room for ice. Bird tour with Louise was wonderful, they have lots of other tours available and they will pick you up right at Maze Lodge. The lodge is right next to a Zip Line tour, we didn’t try it, but I’m sure you can get a great deal.

Master bedroom was really amazing, with a huge area for the rest of the family. Hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Rincon Beach is a few steps from Kinkajoungalows - Amaya Family, Drake Bay, Osa Peninsula, while San Josecito Beach is 1.8 km away. Drake Bay Airport is 17 km from the property, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service. Incredibly beautiful location with a jungle feel right on the beach. The Amaya family and everyone involved are kind and very well organized - not used to such all-round service when traveling, we felt truly spoiled.

While we were there we saw hummingbirds, macaws, toucans, halloween crab and two different types of monkeys. All of them in the garden of the property. The plants and trees attract the animals. The hosts are very friendly and gave good advice about things that can be done nearby (e.g. horseback riding). Their 3 dogs and 2 cats are adorable. We miss this place already. Be aware that you are in a less-developed area of Costa Rica with limited options of restaurants.

Dining area is beautiful and restful with great views. We hated to leave and would love to return.

Good guides and a long list of activities for purchase. Probably best food in Carate and ranks among the best prepared "lodge" meals I've had anywhere.
