This place is simply amazing. The rooms are bright, beautifully designed, full of natural materials, and surrounded by wonderful greenery. Everything is perfectly clean, and the whole property feels like a little corner of magic. I really felt welcome and at home, while everything was extremely professional and well thought out. The balance between having your own private, gorgeous room and the shared spaces like the kitchen and courtyard is perfect. It gives you both privacy and the option to meet people and enjoy some company. The place is run by a wonderful family who are genuinely kind and caring. They checked in to see how I was, asked if there was anything they could help with, and offered help with anything beyond just the stay, they truly wanted me to enjoy my time there. The location is perfect, very close to everything and the beach. I can’t recommend this place enough, it’s absolutely one of the most beautiful, stylish, and special places I’ve ever stayed, and I couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

My recent stay at Charming Dark Lodge in River was nothing short of exceptional, marking it as the best homestay experience I have ever encountered. From delicious lunches and dinners to delightful surprises and the most mouth-watering fish barbecue - probably the best meal I have had in the two months I have been in Sri Lanka. Immaculately clean, equipped with a kitchen containing everything one could possibly need, and beautifully built and decorated. Originally intending to stay for four nights, we found ourselves captivated by the charm of Charming Dark Lodge, extending our stay to twelve nights. Departing was bittersweet, as we had grown attached to the unparalleled hospitality and the tranquil ambiance of our temporary home. A particularly memorable moment was celebrating my birthday during our stay. Our host went above and beyond to ensure it was an unforgettable occasion, adding a personal touch that truly made me feel special. Everything! The garden, the bungalow with it’s private space outside to chill, the common areas where people got together to drink, eat or just chat… It’s also a 1 minute walk from the beach and literally 30 seconds from awesome coffe shops and restaurants. The hosting family is kind and will help you with anything you need. I had the chance to know more about them and how midigama has evolved in the past 40 years. It was really interesting and they are the sweetest people. Also, 2 great surfing spots just a few minutes walk from the bungalows. I will surely come back! Thanks for everything!

Very clean room in nice surroundings, with garden, outdoor furniture, outdoor shower to use after the beach. Access to kitchen, amazing breakfast and super super nice host helping with everything. A/C and fan working very well :) great place, close to many beaches that you can visit. We had a wonderful stay:)

Fabulous boutique hotel with a great location right on the beach. Beautiful rooms , lovely pool and great staff everyone made our stay magical. Shout out to Roshan the chef, amazing food from breakfast to the dinners. We only had dinner once but they went out of the way to make sure as vegetarians we were well taken care of. Nihal the manager also made sure our stay was just perfect.
