Everything was just perfect, as described, clean warm cosy and welcoming. It was immediately obvious that the hosts go out of their way to give guests a perfect overnight stay. Really nice deco too.

The property was beautiful, home from home, with everything there that you needed, the welcome pack was a lovely gesture as well left by Claire. The village was quiet, which was nice, but good in the fact that relaxing/chilled (with village pub just across the road serving lovely food) we had days out in York and Beverley. We are certainly going back......

The Galtres is an old building right in the centre of the city. The Shambles is just around the corner. The rooms are so quaint, and the lodge has been decorated beautifully. The staff were very friendly and allowed us to leave a small suitcase at reception after we checked out so that we could do a bit more sightseeing before driving home. The breakfast was delicious, chefs kiss! We had the Full English and I’d definitely recommend. A couple of tips for anyone wanting to stay in York: we used the park and ride so that we didn’t have to park in the city. We parked our car at Askham Bar Park & Ride, it’s free and secure. Then we took the bus into town with a one way single ticket, which cost around £3 each. York is quite small. We managed to walk the whole city around 3 times in 24 hours. I can recommend the City Sightseeing bus. Your ticket is valid 24 hours and you have an audio guide, so you can learn interesting facts about the city and its history. The day we went it was pouring with rain, so we decided to go and watch a movie at the Everyman cinema. That was lovely, very small with couches and service at your seat. We stopped for a Guinness at the Tank and Paddle. It’s expensive there but you have a great view of the river and if there’s a special sports event, you’ll be able to catch it on one of their 20 TVs dotted around the restaurant. We had cocktails and food at The Slug and Lettuce. Everything was amazing, I would go there again next time. The Shambles is the oldest street in York and so pretty! We wanted to grab a bite to eat before exploring further and stumbled upon a street-food-esque shop called Shambles Kitchen. You get pulled pork sandwiches, among other things. Highly recommend! And how can we forget Bettys? A stunning tea room situated in the centre of town. You’ll need to book a table in advance if you don’t want to stand in a mile long queue.

Staff were very friendly. Check in was super easy. Location was very green and peaceful! Our room was lovely & the access to the whole house (living room, kitchen, dining rooms, gardens) was wonderful. I've paid £1000+ to stay in holiday cottages and this place very much made me feel like I was again for the very small fee of £67 because there was only us and another guest. A lovely place and we'll absolutely be back- well worth the 4 hour drive from home! Thank you😊

We could not fault this accommodation. The food in the restaurant was absolutely brilliant. The staff were amazing. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the surprise was finding an ensuite in the master bedroom. We highly recommend this accommodation. The breakfast was included. The food was fresh and the service was fast.
