Our stay was exceptional. The cottage was beautiful with new equipment, set in an excellent mountain location. What stood out were the wonderful owners who made us feel incredibly welcome. The breakfast was excellent. Lots of hummingbirds. Too bad we were only here for one day; I could easily imagine staying a few more days. I warmly recommend it.

Amazing fancy restaurant quality food in the rainforest. Water is good and won’t get you sick. Rooms are clean and pest free, and very comfortable for a rustic area far from the city in Costa Rica in the middle of the rainforest. There is no AC, but the fans are powerful and I slept well. Amazing bird and animal life all around, and kind and attentive staff.

Wonderful placement of our bungalow, right on the edge of the valley, with beautiful views (when clouds allow). The garden is magnificent and the focus on nature and birds watching (lots of hummingbirds) fitted our expectations! Good food in the restaurant. And the excursion to see the Quetzal was successful!!!!

The most amazing location! Be prepared for the thin air but totally worth the experience. The hosts were superb and couldn't do enough for us. The cabinas were clean and everything was spot on. They were beautifully situated for incredible views. Huge breakfasts and fresh trout for dinner.

The hotel is very special. We had our own cosy lodge. The staff is very friendly and helpful. As it can be a bit cold at night, we even had hot-water bottles. There is also a heater. In the spacious area of the Trogon Lodge, there is very much to see, for example different species of plants and animals like humming birds, lizards and even Quatzals. The lodge does also offer a shorter and a longer exciting hiking track in the cloud forest. We booked a Quetzal watching tour in the morning and really saw about 5 Quetzals.

    This was our last stop of a 3-week round trip and a great stop it was. Temperatures are cool at night, chalets are cosy and the showers are warm in the morning (not a given in Costa Rica). The restaurant is exceptional combined with great wines. Great value for money! Including the restaurant.

    Esteban and his family are the best Hosts ever, we felt very welcome in a wonderful place in the middle of the Rain Forest. Delicious food, a humming bird paradise, a very nice cabin with a heater. Amazing place. We enjoyed every second. Thank you!!

    Beautiful chales made of wood and placed in pure nature. The food on the restaurant is super good and worth it’s money. The 3 km track going directly from the chalets is wonderful and passing in the primary forest full of life. We loved the place!

    Cute little cabin in a tranquil location. They have their own 3km trail up through the forest and back down through the coffee and avocado plantations. The restaurant was unexpectedly excellent for such a quiet valley.

    One of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed at. The cabin was very nice, food was exceptional and the staff helpful and nice. We had two very young kids (1 and 4) and we could take them with us on the 3km hike around the forest and plantations - we enjoyed that a lot! We really like the sustainable emphasis the lodge has and eating local product.
