Kids ended up just wanting to sleep on the futons. Everything like new. Clean and comfortable. Location is very convenient. No noise from the street. Good value for money. Just superb.

One of my favorite memories from my two week trip to Japan will be my stay in this little town of Hota, much thanks to Ken-ken's hospitality and guidance for places to visit and eat at while I stayed. He recommended the cutest izakaya when I told him I was looking for dinner and a few beers called Rest Inn Wassup! The owner and cook there were so nice, and we had a good time visiting even though we were mostly speaking through Google Translate. Please don't be afraid to visit this little town if you want to see some authentic Japanese small-town life and great hiking. I was able to get around fairly easily, but be aware the public transportation is limited and it can get dark in the neighborhood at night. Rest assured, though, if you stay with Ken-ken, he will make your stay comfortable and worthwhile!

They went above and beyond for us. They can speak English and supported us from arrival to departure. They provided fireworks and marshmallows for the campfire and even drove us to the closest supermarket to help with our grocery shopping. They didn't have to, but they did. So absolutely 10/10, would recommend.
