This family-run guest house is quietly situated in Stadt Wehlen in the heart of the Saxon Switzerland National Park, directly below the world-famous Bastei rock formation. It offers free WiFi. Firstly, we were happy to be staying in a family-run hotel and to be able to support a family business. The staff was unbelievably friendly and helpful, giving us tips for what to do and where to go and even for restaurants in the area as we were there during Christmas and the selection was very limited. We were also kept up to date about the weather and various other conditions in the general area. The breakfast was amazing, including the selection of the family's homemade jams. There were so many that we couldn't try them all! Fresh bread, loads of cold cuts and eggs, a huge variety of cereals, and fresh fruit.

Boasting a sauna, Residenz Hugo is situated in Bad Schandau. Private parking is available on site at this recently renovated property. Amazing place. Very clean, with all needed amenities (big plus for the sauna and coffee machine).

The staff was exceptional and went above and beyond for us. Short walk from train station and the walking track up to the fortress is just across the road. Breakfast was excellent too.
