Helpful and friendly staff, spacious room, super clean, close to the subway. They really thought of everything from washing machines to nightlights. A very quiet place in a nice neighborhood, close to the Hozanji funicular station, and you can get to Toyama station by foot using the stairs for a hundred meters heigh walk. The traditional bedrooms of the Ryokan have a small entrance where you can leave your luggage. Then you can appreciate the size of the room and the view over Ikoma and around. For breakfast, the staff cooks delicious meals for you and each morning you can enjoy different ingredients. An upright piano is in the entrance hall, and if you ask for, you might be allowed to play... It can leads to karaoke sessions with oba-chan, a must-do!

One of my favourite hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Ken the owner is super nice and has made the place extremely comfortable for guests. Free laundry, free towels, free bottle of water each day and many other luxuries are available. Everything is clean and the rooms, kitchen and lounge are all great. Located in a peaceful neighbourhood but still has all the conveniences of shops and restaurants and is easily accessible by train to and from anywhere you want to go.

A cozy stay with opportunity to experience buddhist culture. It helps that people understand the symbolism of the rituals. They speak some English and have pamphlets that explain the experiences you can purchase. We purchased the fire and chant ceremony and were blessed. It did not feel like there were many guests, so it was nice to enjoy the quiet baths and dinners. We hiked to the summit for about 20-30 min. Be sure to grab a hiking stick along the way. Very beautiful grounds and well maintained. We enjoyed the lit path at night. Yes, there are some bugs but surprisingly I didn't get many bites. Kaiseki meal was prepared beautifully with local ingredients of shiso, tofu, and pickled vegetables. They provide tea with your meal, so bring a water bottle to dinner, if you prefer.
