The Carrick Gate is just an all round great place. Located on the river right in town. So clean, newly refurbished, comfortable and excellent Continental breakfast with loads of choices. We were the only ones there being winter so it was lovely and quiet. We booked late and had a bit of delay making phone contact for the key, but that was fixed up quickly for us. The apartment was clearly put together very thoughtfully and with a lot of care: three generously sized bedrooms with ensuites, a comfortable kitchen/dining/living space, and everything bright and spacious with very soft carpets. The house and its setting are lovely, with a few sheep wandering through the front lawn and views over the heather from all directions. Over the few days we stayed we must have seen a rainbow out of every window. The house seems to stay warm and dry in the wind and rain, and there's enough entrance hall downstairs to get rid of wet clothes, muddy boots and sandy bits before you go upstairs. The location is perfect for striking out on day-trips in all directions with only a short drive to the coast. We certainly hope to return and stay longer so we can explore the area more fully.

This was an absolutely amazing stay! The view from our room was simply breathtaking - like a perfect picture. The hosts were so friendly; they truly made us feel at home. Tina was an incredibly welcoming host, she went above and beyond to help us make the most out of our stay there, even though it was only for one night! She really made our experience wholesome- the lodge is located in an idyllic spot with access to two separate beaches (you just need to bypass a temperamental goose to make it there). Honestly, our stay there was a core memory for both myself and my friend and one we are really gonna treasure 🙂 1000000000/10 -would recommend
