The warm welcome from Kosala and Vipul has been the highlight of our stay. They really made us feel at home. As we arrived, they were two strangers, but as we left, they were to very good friends to us. They were very helpful with everything, answered all our questions, and Kosala's cooking was always delicious. They were always keen on making sure we were satisfied with everything. The room and bathroom were both very clean and confortable. The bed was also very comfortable. We also really enjoyed the big terrace with table and chair which allowed us to regularly relax, eat and/or work on our computers. The place is situated about 15min drive from the main center but this allows for a very calm and quiet place. Kosala and Vipul's english is very good which allowed for really great exchanges.

For birders, Wanakaset deserves special praise: I recorded nearly 50 beautiful species including a number of Sri Lankan endemics during my stay! The butterfly diversity, mammals, flora, and wild mushrooms are also impressive. At night fall asleep to the frog symphony and the spectacle of a forest canopy sparkling with fireflies, and wake up to an enchanting dawn chorus of bird song. Later, stroll down the path to take a refreshing swim in the river, then enjoy a cup of hand-made local tea picked an processed right on site. It's a place you won't want to leave.

I had the upper apartment and it has all the amenities like a home. The manager, Sasila, was helpful and explained about the room features and also the timings the mosquitoes would appear. 🥰 It is a most comfortable stay. One may hear a bit of traffic sometimes but earplugs are available. There are fruit stalls nearby and Mawanella is only 3km away.
