The onsen was eye-opening to say the least. It is located beside a stream / forest, and it was refreshing to soak in the onsen while listening to the stream flow by.

Even with strong winds and horizontal rain, the outlook was mesmerising, and when the sun came out, it was great to step outside for a leisurely stroll along the waterfront. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Nikaho - a great base for exploring (with a car) attractions in Tsuruoka and Sakata as well as views and waterfalls around beautiful Mt Chokai.

The surrounding nature/mountain is lovely. Breakfast and dinner sets are delicious and fulfilled.

This place has so much soul and energy and it's worth a visit to Kazuno if you want hidden gem authentic Japan and lots of snow. Loved every second

The whole place has a beautiful blend of western and Japanese style and comfort. The host Koh san is a very kind, helpful and attentive gentleman. He makes good effort to try to make our stay enjoyable. He generously filled up the refrigerator for our breakfast. I highly recommend this place!
