The apartments, against a backdrop of golden sun ray in the late afternoon, greeted us in a very pleasant way when we arrived. They were new and clean. The kitchens were well equipped. A special thanks went to the host who came to alert us of an approaching hurricane that basically closed most of the roads in northern and eastern Iceland for days. She managed to give us the heads up and advise us to closely monitor the weather forecast and road conditions before we checked out. Her advice was essential for keeping us safe as we then extended our stay at the next stop to take shelter from the strong wind and sleet.

Egilsstadir village is a 5-minute drive away. The Hallormsstadaskógur Forest is 25 km from the cottages. As we were driving by the airport, we saw these strange looking houses on the other side of the lake and were hoping we would be staying in one of those. It was the case. We managed to get in super easily thanks to the code provided. We were lucky to have a nice and sunny day which added points to the amazing view. The kitchen is well equiped and the bathroom is correct.

The room is beautiful, spacious and the beds are very comfortable. There are three bathrooms, one of which is HUGE. The owner is really attentive, hard-working and ready to help you with anything you may need. It's the only apartment we stayed in during our trip around Iceland in which we could use a washing machine and a dryer. The fact that you share bathroom and kitchen with other guests might be a nuisance if you're on a tight schedule and these are occupied by other guests. However, this rarely happened, and with three bathrooms for 5 rooms, we only had to wait a bit to use the spacious kitchen a couple of times in 3 days because we were really unlucky and everyone wanted to cook at the same time. :-)

All the rooms was clean, comfy and lively decorated. The kitchen is very big and my group of 9 peoples can stay together in there. The dogs and cat are very friendly. Elsa baked bread for every guest and that was awesome.
