The rooms were spotless, with beautiful interiors, soft and cozy bedsheets, comfortable blankets, and warm lighting. They even provided toiletries, which was a thoughtful touch. Everything felt well-maintained and worth every penny. The outdoor area felt like a mini farmhouse—clean, peaceful, and with a charming village-like vibe. It was the perfect place to relax after exploring Hampi. The hosts, Ramu and his wife Kavitha, were amazing. They were friendly, warm, and always ready to help, which made us feel right at home. The location is great—away from the noisy tourist areas but just a 4-minute drive to all the main attractions in Hampi. A special mention goes to Mr. Anjaneya, or Anji, a family friend of the hosts. He drove us around in his auto-rickshaw and was more than just a driver—he was like a guide. He took us on a tour of Hampi, suggested the best places to eat non-veg food, and even helped us rent a bike. His tips and guidance made our trip so much easier and more enjoyable. Shankar Homestay is a perfect blend of comfort, great hospitality, and a peaceful vibe. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hampi!

Perfect view from the balcony for the temple nearby, very close to Madikeri attractions. If you need support with organising a car Pradeep will take care of that for you. Usha went above and beyond preparing amazing meals - she even specially made for me a lunch dish in the evening (as it was not possible to buy it anymore in any eating place). I will not even mention i have arrived at 4am in the morning and they greeted me with a smile. Thank you for everything. If I come back to Madikeri again I will definitely come back to your place! There is free private parking and the property provides paid airport shuttle service. TL;DR: Stay here and ask for Pampa as a tour guide for a 10-star time in Hampi! Very welcoming! One day before our arrival, Arjun reached out to us and asked us if we needed a transfer from Hosapete train station. Although we arrived early morning with the train from Bangalore, there was no problem for family friend and tour guide Pampa to pick us up at the train station and bring us directly to the homestay. Even our room was immediately available although it was still early morning. Pampa then offered to also take us around for the day (and potentially more) to see the sights of Hampi. You will need some form of transportation because of the large distances between the sights and Pampa and his auto rickshaw are a great choice. His English is ver good and he is a very polite and knowledgable guide. He also knows which places to go to and what to do each day for whatever length you're staying. In the end we did all three days we stayed in Hampi with him and we had a very good time! The room itself was modern with a clean, big bathroom, a double and a single bed, fan, AC and a balcony. The family members and the rest of the staff are all very nice and help wherever they can. The homestay is located on a side road, which makes it very quiet and serene (at least as quiet as India can be) and it doesn't really matter that it is a bit remote as you need a vehicle to get everywhere anyways. I would highly recommend to stay here at Arjuns homestay and have Pampa as a tour guide!
