My stay at Nalnshal was truly exceptional. The location, right in the heart of Shali, offers breathtaking 360-degree views over the oasis—an unforgettable sight. The warmth and hospitality shown by the staff - Mohamed, Ibrahim, and Saleh, was remarkable. They were attentive, generous, and kind, yet with a relaxed, easygoing nature that’s rare to find. The hostel itself is beautifully built in traditional Karsheef, and the rooms are cozy and inviting. Breakfast was both delicious and plentiful. Overall, it was a truly special experience.

The outdoor space in the balcony areas is great for a big family & has a nice breeze. The owner is easy & a very courteous person. It was a pleasure dealing with them. Chalet was extremely clean full of facilities.

I was originally supposed to only stay one night at Paloma Lodge from 6 Nov to 7 Nov, but because I enjoyed my stay here so much, I decided to extend for 4 more nights, only checking out on 10 Nov instead. Paloma Lodge is very well located, with only about 5 mins’ walk away from Siwan town centre where all the restaurants, cafés and shops are located. Apart from that, it’s only a stone’s throw away from a fresh water spring, where it’s perfect for an early morning or mid-afternoon swim. The host, Captain Nair, is super kind, warm and hospitable! He made me feel very welcomed and because I was a solo female traveller, he would check on me when I’m out later in the evening. In fact, he invited me to dinners at the lodge with lovely meals, either prepared by the good Captain himself, or his lovely housekeeper, Safie! The lodge is very tastefully decorated and kept very clean. The one-room apartment that I stayed in was very cosy and was sufficiently equipped with kitchen appliances, such as; electric kettle, toaster oven and a fridge. I will definitely stay at Paloma Lodge again, when I come back to Siwa!! It was a very enjoyable and cosy homestay which felt like you are with family. A home away from home.
