Luana House can be accessed by the island bus, a bus stop is located directly in front of the house, and unlimited rides tickets (1, 3 or 4 days) can be purchased at the ports of Miyanoura and Anbo or at the airport for example. All sightseeing spots can be reached by bus, though renting a car is recommended for flexibility. The house is located on the southern coastline of Yakushima. From the terrace, you have a nice view of the ocean, and you can relax in one of the armchairs or hammocks and just enjoy the scenery. I had the western-style bedroom, which featured a sink and mirror in the room. Toilet and shower are shared with the room on the opposite side, and the kitchen is shared with everyone. All areas were nice and clean. The owners were the friendliest and most helpful hosts I ever met. I was offered a ride to some sigthseeing spots or to the town of Onoaida for grocery shopping or dinner. The host even provided some hiking equipment, as I was not prepared for the heavy rain on one of the days. Generally, the service far exceeds what you would expect from a pension. Overall it is one of the most memorable stays I ever had.

There is only 1 main accommodation area and the house has high roof, so it feels very open and spacious for me. Well ventilated with plenty of fresh air and natural light. I loved the feel of a wooden Japanese house. Everything was very clean and cozy. Loved the outdoor kitchen, lovely outdoor cooking experience; and outdoor areas, makes it easy to dry up after a rainy hiking day. The home is well equipped with racks and amenities (washing clothes, cooking). The host was so warm and caring, she checked in with you to provide necessary information on getting around and visiting Yakushima. Ask her about the meaning of the name Tomarigi, it’s very sweet. Thank you so much for my comfortable and close-to-nature stay, I had an amazing time!

It was a great pleasure to stay at the place. The barbecue option is a find! It made our stay unforgettable. The beds were very comfortable, house is spotless, kitchen is functional. Outstanding vacation stay. After booking i had some second thoughts but om so happy i did not listen to them and arrived at this amay place. The location is excellent and most perfect is taht it is located near the open mixed onsen at the sea. This was one if our trip highlights. Host is providing recommendation and tips when to visit ( according to tied) , what to wear and what not to wear 😄 and yiu will find it all in the house fir your use. The house is very well equipped. There was nothing we needed that we could not find. Never been in such a place. Since we came off season, lucky we were able to cook as a lot on the island was closed. The kitchen had it all, in good quality and nice design. It was very cold outside but very warm inside. Excellent hot water at all times. Japanese slipping style was so comfortable. Natural garden out side with wonderful sitting table. I can go on and on as we truly loved this place. Do not think twice! You will thank me. Communication with hist was excellent from the time of booking to the day we left. Always available, provide useful information and tips.

My partner and I love our stay! Located very conveniently by the river in Anbō port, less than 5 mins walk to the main street . We had rooms with a view over the Anbō river. This location made it very easy to go kayaking on the beautiful river, and an easy walk to catch the bus to go on the Jomon Sugi hike and other attractions on the island. Our host was very accommodating, allowing us to check in early and leave our bags for a short while after checkout. Our host also assisted with arranging bento boxes for our long hike, and provided a free snack a day.
