Its walking distance to a black sand, clothing optional, beach. I will definitely book here again when visiting the Big Island. I would feel safe here as a solo traveler. Stephen greeted us when we arrived to the property and was so welcoming. I immediately felt at ease in his presence. He gave us a tour and showed us to our rooms, let us know how to reach him if we needed anything. Our smoke alarm was going off one night and he came right over, checked it out and swapped the battery, fixing the problem. I traveled with a friend and we each had separate rooms. The house feels more home like, relaxing front porch, solid wood furniture, and everything you'd need. Both rooms were clean and beds comfortable. At first, I thought my bed may be too soft, but I slept SO good and woke with no pains, feeling refreshed, so it must have been just right. Bath and beach towels were in our rooms, a bathrobe, a list of hosted and local activities we may be interested in, and a little bowl of snacks too. I also appreciated they had sunscreen and bug spray available.

Orchid tree is exceptionally beautiful, totally solar powered with a beautiful pool, hot tub and landscaping, a large lanai for relaxing and the room is truly large with lounge able furniture , pristine clean. Many places we’ve stayed give you pictures that don’t really represent the place when you arrive. However orchid tree is wonderful as are the hosts, both friendly and responsive ! Breakfast was just fine with fresh fruit, yogurt, granola and a good selection of Juices , breads, cream cheese, etc as well as freshly ground coffee. (Plenty for us but if you are an egg type there’s always places in town). But the lanai, the waves crashing, the superb coffee, we didn’t need more!

Hand made breakfast was also included which we got to eat in a small breakfast nook with ocean views. This B and B was paradise.

Good ecosystem and rich vegetation. Geckos are cute; cats, chickens, cows. One specific chicken would come up to the property and lay eggs on a particular spot. Eggs look healthy and huge :D Lots of fruit trees. Owners are good people with great hospitality and nice communications. Rooms are clean, spacious, with a nice patio. beds are sooo comfortable. (The combination of sheets, comforters and mattress is something my friend and I really liked.) Weather is pleasant, view is amazing. fruits and breakfast are delicious.

Extras include an outdoor seating area, bed linen and a fan. Absolutely amazing. The owners should put better photos on Booking.com. All 4 rooms have a terrific ocean view, a tropic forest behind a window, endless songs of Hawaiian birds in the evening and in the morning! The room was clean and nice, the lanai was beautiful, and the owners were very nice people. Breakfast was great, homemade food that the owners make for their guests every morning. Having your breakfast on the huge balcony on the second floor surrounded by tropical trees canopies with myriads of birds was amazing. Location was also convenient for us as we were exploring the entire island. There is a large supermarket in 15 min drive from the house.
