Ma’ukele Lodge was one of our favourite places to stay during our 3 week tour of Hawaii. Our hosts, Raven and Mark, were so friendly, welcoming and helpful that it felt like staying with old friends rather than at paid accommodation. Our room was charming, quirky and slightly bonkers - we loved it! The Lodge was ideally located for day and night trips to the Hawai’i Volcano National Park and an impromptu walking tour of Fissure 8. The lodge itself was affected by the 2018 Kīlauea volcanic eruption and the short walk down to the black lava beach was quite fascinating. Raven prepared lovely fresh fruit breakfasts which we enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the morning sun and we particularly enjoyed the antics of the numerous green geckos accustomed to feed on the leftover papayas! Brilliant!

Beautiful place in the middle of paradise. The house is in the middle of nature. The rooms are large and all have their own bathroom. The lady of the house is very lovely and makes breakfast for the guests every morning (fresh fruits from the garden). She can also explain a lot of interesting things about the lava fields. We loved to stay here. 🤩

A great little studio. Lovely furnishings, nice private bathroom. Little barbecue and burner outside for guest use. Decent fridge and coffee pot with coffee. Open and airy. Nestled in amongst coffee plants, vegetable gardens and bee hives, this is a little gem of a find. Peaceful surrounds no traffic, birds and frogs sing the night away. Thoroughly recommend.
