Very well equipped hostel (washing machine,dryer,coffee machine with coffee 😍). Rooms small (but we were 5) but cosy! There are 2 bathrooms but we were never waiting to use one. The owners even invited us to the pool next door to make up for the lack of more showers. They just opened and really try to make everything perfect. We met the host- she was super nice. If it wouldn’t be so far away from us we would definitely come back. Keep going- you are doing a great job 🫶🏻

A good location for a relaxing stay in Vopnafjörður, Ásbrandsstadir Cottages is a holiday home surrounded by views of the lake.

Brilliant little gem of a place! Stayed in the December for a couple of nights. Amazing atmosphere, beautiful canyon with a mountain views. We even got lucky with some northern lights!
Comfortable worm cottage, short drive from the nearby village.
And just to add for the story, our host Jon managed to receive from us status *An Absolute Legend * digging us from being stuck under a meter of snow morning after the stormy night (completely our fault by not parking the car closer to the road).

When we arrived the host was waiting for us in the parking area with a very friendly greeting, our keys and provided a tour of our two houses. We arrived with two hours of sunlight left and asked for suggestions of things to do. The host gave us a key to a private beach, so we could explore the lake below us. It was a five minute drive, we had the whole beach to explore by ourselves, it was a nice bonus!
The houses were beautiful inside, the kitchen and bathroom were all new and looked beautiful. Great views of the lake.

Amazing (!) view from the cabin. Absolutely stunning and it gives you the impression that you are in the middle of nowhere. Gorgeous sunset! Very idyllic.
The cabin was small but okay for a me as a solo traveler. There is a tiny kitchen in the cottage but in the main building better kitchen options are available. It’s clean. Parking in front of the cabin.
I enjoyed the talk with the owner. It taught me about Iceland and it’s culture.
