Together with my 13-year-old daughter I had the pleasure to spend one week in the Pirate Arts Resort on Carenero Island. At first, I was hesitant to fly all the way from Germany to Panama but luckily my daughter insisted. And it was so worth it. Before we even sat foot on the island, we were very well taken care of. Weeks in advance, the managing director sent us a welcome letter which included how to get there, a very nice selection of trips and excursions to do, where to eat, etc. It also included some very practical tips in terms of which insect-repellent to buy and to stop at the local supermarket to buy the snacks you will be craving after dinner. When we finally sat foot on the island it felt like stepping into another world. There was the main house with the restaurant (it was closed when we visited but will be reopened in December and the whole operations will be run by a German chef – funny coincidence) and then there were a couple of separate 2-story houses with apartments in a tropical garden. Oh, that garden. So well maintained and so beautiful. Our apartment had a huge veranda with a table for four, a hammock, some lounge chairs (this is where I enjoyed my morning coffee) and 2 deck-chairs. Ah, and there was a star-fruit tree right in front of our house and we took full advantage of it 😊 On the veranda was a huge ventilator to keep the mosquitos away. Inside the apartment we had a big room with a fully furnished kitchen and living room with lots of books and board games. Our suite had 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. All the rooms have air-conditioning and ventilators. I also loved the fact that there were flower arrangements on every table and a fruit basket in the kitchen. Yummy. Behind the house was a washing-machine and a dryer – all very convenient. The people working there were very friendly – it felt more like a community. Lovely apartment with absolutely amazing sea views. We were meet by Rocío, who was very helpful. The apartment is well equipped, has a large and very comfortable bed but it is the views that make it so great. It is also in a great location, close to many very good bars and restaurants - yet quiet.

I loved the location and how easy it was to get to, It was still quite a bit of distance from the major bars and noise points so the nights were quiet and you could get a good rest, however, it was still close enough to a place to swim, bakeries and stores, as well as the main park in walking distance that you did not have to worry about anything. The staff was great, they were so attentive and nice, when we had the issue with the Mini apartment their first reaction was to help, we asked to be upgraded and we would pay the difference, however, they said it was okay and upgraded us for free. Not only did they upgrade us for free but they also gave us the time in which the room would be ready to transfer, and since we were going to be out for a tour, they helped us move all the bags, so when we arrived everything was set, even the refrigerator stuff we had was in the fridge as well, so we had cold water! The apartment overall was huge, it was an amazing upgrade, the kitchen, bathroom, and beds were even better, and the tables as well. They give you the towels and soap so it was nice to not have to pack much. The apartments are inside and they have a little fence and it made me feel so much more secure. They also have so much information about the island, I asked where was the closest place to swim so that we didn't have to walk much and they gave us very detailed info about it, it worked great because we managed to get such a great tour thanks to them. But overall I would definitely come back to this place, I loved it, and my family loved the stories and are planning to visit too, I am so thankful to the hosts for making this experience greater than we expected.

Epic private studio, had cable tv with English which was amazing as I was sick. Kitchen had everything you needed and more. Lovely staff, clothes came back cleaner than new. 10/10
